Rest Haven (Black), Smithfield Twp Location: Land for Rest Haven Cemetery was given to the blacks of Smithfield for a burying ground by Jack Broadhurst. There are many graves that are unmarked and only a depression in the ground is found. Many are marked by a rusty metal funeral home markers & are illegiable. Mitchell, Boon Hill Township Location: At stop light on Hwy 70 at Princeton take the Kenly road, cross the Little River and turn at the 2nd left, SR 2354. Take the 2nd left. The cemetery is behind the 2nd house on the left. It is about 300 yds behind Howard Mitchell's house. The Mitchell land was given to George Mitchell as payment for fighting in the Revolutionary War. 60 marked graves. several unmarked graves. Johnston Union Church, Smithfield Location: On Hwy 70 about 5 miles west of Smithfield. In the Church yard. Well kept. 193 marked graves.
