I have seen data that identifies Jesse as son of Mary Hinnant and Thomas Joyner. I note that in the “JOHNSTON COUNTY WILL ABSTRACTS 1746 – 1870” in the William Hinnant, Sr. Will dated 16 June 1801 “Jesse Joiner” is identified as granddaughter. Anyone who has seen or has a copy of the original 16 June 1801 will of William Hinnant,Sr. please help identify the true gender of Jesse Joiner or Joyner.
