My maternal line includes the Boons. Willie Stancil Boon was my great-great grandfather. I can not find the Stancil connection, because his father John Boon, and his mother Leatha Dodd show no Stancil cnnection. On my father's side, Mourning Stancil married John W, Cooper (great-great grandfather). Below is what I know of her. Mourning Stancil's heritage can be traced to her father, William Stancil I, born 1803. He and his wife had 2 children, Mourning (or Morning) b.1836, and William Stancil II, b. 1849. Mourning was listed as being born at Stancil's Chapel in Johnston County. Mourning's brother married Mary Massengill, and they had 5 children: George Robert, Dollie, Walter III, Sallie and Joseph. As discussed earlier, Dollie married Hardy Boykin, brother of Robert Spencer Boykin, father of Luther Boykin, Julie Cooper (Mourning's granddaughter). If you know of any connection, please let me know. Thanks. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
