I attended a genealogical seminar once at which the speaker stated that given names such as Needham, Caswell, Burwell, etc, are known as Tidewater names. That is they originated with families living in the Tidewater areas of Virginia and Maryland. But, I am sure that most of the younger males in Johnston Co were named after Needham Bryan(t).
