    3. I have a copy of the book Family Adventures. The author, David V. Muckleroy is still living in Nacogdoches, Texas. <1906dm@sbcglobal.net> He is in a wheelchair and his health varies from time to time. He sometimes has copies made. You will have to ask him. Let me warn you that there are over 3000 typewritten and Xeroxed pages. It is not cheap to even copy that many pages. He might copy just the pages you need, but I don't know what is possible. The LDS Library has most of the pages (not the bad early Xerox pages from ages ago) on microfilm (or microfiche). Also they have a copy in their library. The Mackelroy/Muckleroy (about 50 different spellings but all the same line) has been followed down from John and Francis in Baltimore Co., MD until about 1983. He did not follow the allied families much except to say who the spouses' families were. There are a good many copies of documents and references which mention allied families. Many, many people contributed to this effort. They are thanked in mass in the front of the book, but the book does not source each bit of information. The indexes are pretty complete. All Mackelroy spellings are listed together (However would you do otherwise?) If you want someone with a common name (lots of Williams for example), it is wise to look for a related name because, unless you know the section of the book, it is very time consuming to look for a common name. There were many people working on the family back in 1973 when I began working on it. People who helped me are gone. The LDS library also has a copy of the book by Tom McLeroy, now deceased, and his widow didn't have any more copies. I copied a lot of it when I was at Salt Lake Library some years ago. It is very well done for what researchers need to know about the early family. Again, it is just Mackleroy (I use that spelling for all but descendants of Avington Muckleroy. That is the only way I can find them on my database) and intermarried families such as the Hartsfields and Jones, etc. I will be willing to share anything I have on the computer that is not time consuming. My time is pretty well spoken for this summer and I'm not as young as I was. Let me recommend some books containing deeds and court records, etc. by Weynette Parks Haun. She has them for several years for Johnston and Wake and some other South Carolina families. They are in quite a few libraries. I know Clayton Library in Houston has them. She has them for sale also but you will have to do a search as I don't remember the website. They are in paperback format (8-1/2 x 11) and are reasonably prices for the current time. I have several copies in my library. I have recently been working on organizing female lines from the family. Some are from Pendleton Co., SC to Tennessee counties of Franklin >Coffee> Grundy > Benton (now Calhoun Co., AL) > to Texas. It is understood that I have worked in Maryland and Virginia and Craven, Johnston, Wake NC and Georgia. I've done some wondering and looking for maiden names not documented in earlier information. I am still working on trying to prove what John's wife, Francis' maiden name was. I have worked on eliminating a lot of names and have copies of documents mentioning one or two who might work out. I have been unable to prove from the documents I have which have been said to prove her name whether there is actually any proof in there. I visited the archives in Maryland 3 years ago. When I get some other genealogical projects to a stopping place, I might try that again. I have also worked on trying to find Ghaskey's maiden name (although I am not from her). I have a clue, but that is all that it is. Shared clues have a way of showing up on the internet as REAL and that takes longer to dispel something wrong that it did to put it there. For instance, there is no proof that Archibald's wife, Catherine, was a Simpson other than her daughter named a son Simpson. I have looked and looked and have been unable to prove that. I'm pretty big on PROOF. I enjoy hearing from family researchers. Among my family lines are Thorntons from east Alabama, west Georgia married to Nelsons........Bryans married to Nelson, with the Bryans being from Barbour County Alabama and going back to Johnston County, NC to include Needham Bryan.....and McLeroy/ McElroy from Alabama, Georgia and going back to MD. To Betty Stokes, others : would you have any McLeroy information to share? I don't know if we've communicated in the past or not. Also, does anyone on the list know of a book called the Family Adventures of John McLeroy ( or McElroy, or Muckleroy, etc. ) ? I think that the title is similar to that. At one time a McLeroy member had a copy of this book.....a few hundred pages it was....and made copies to sell. I'd like to purchase a copy. To Betty, others, also : does anyone have the Thornton, Bryan, Nelson, McLeroy lines in Georgia & Alabama on back to North Carolina, Virginia, possibly back to the immigrant, such that I'd be able to find my connection and work backwards ? Thank you, Mark McLeroy
