    3. I have a copy of " Memoir of Adeil Sherwood , D. D." Start date is either 1634 or 1643. In it the following names are mentioned ; Sherwood , Turney , Hurd , Beecher , Darling , Walker , Edwards , Worth , Haddock , Adams , McRae , Bassett , Fellows , Florence , Wingfield , Weaver Jones , Emory , Richardson , Kellogg , Gould , Clifford , Fleming and Moss. The Memoir is 45 KB. The Memoir of Adeil Sherwood is not my work. It was sent to me many years ago. I do not recall who sent it. I do not know what is fact and what is not fact. It is very interesting reading. Anyone that would like to have a copy needs to e-mail me [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> Include your e-mail address in the body of the e-mail. John

    3. John, I'm very interested in this memoir that you mention. The reason is very simple...my line descends from the MOSS line of VA, that migrated south thru NC to GA in the year 1784, and arrived in Wilkes Co. GA 1785-1787. The presence of several of my lines...in the Colonies dates back to just after the very first ships, and the memoirs might assist me in trying to find out some of their history. I had several lines of kin in Johnston Co. NC...which is why I subb to this list, and the surnames include: MOSS, WATKINS, BARBER, PATTON, ROSSER, WORTHING and VINSON [2 separate lines]. All date back into the mid to late 1600's in Colonial VA. Although I can't prove it...I think that the following surnames...BELINDEN [BELLENDEN/VALENTINE] and CAMPBELL were also there. So far...I haven't found evidence of them in NC...so probably between 1784-1790. I just find it most odd...that any Quaker father would allow his daughter to marry someone that he himself wasn't well acquainted with and none of my traditions have any indications that Reace WATKINS didn't like his son-n-law...Levi CAMPBELL [m. Sarah WATKINS]. *S* Also too...one of our CAMPBELL's, Laurany, married a man who was born in NC...named Sherwood DAVIS, and I find the name of Adeil Sherwood most intriguing. The reason is that most of my lines...used earlier surnames in their naming pattern, and often for over 4-5 generations. *S* If you would be so kind as to forward a copy of the memoir to me...I'd be most grateful.
