John Quincy Baker (1875-1954) was b. in a one-room log cabin near the Old School Rd near Four Oaks. He was the s/o Bennett Ashley Baker (1845-1877) and Kisiah Mae Massengill Baker (1850-1901). ..... Ashley Baker died when his son, John Quincy, was 2 years old, and he was buried in a "bramble bush" cemetery off Hwy 301 S. of Four Oaks. Known siblings of Ashley Baker were Lucinda, Martha, Elijah, Susan, Clinton, and Bythan (possibly others). John Q. Baker's mother, Kisiah, was the d/o Robert Henderson Massengill (1826-1865) and his wife Sally Baker Massengill (ca 1826-1870). Brothers and sisters of Kisiah Massengill were Robert Willis, Cassandra Sarah, Mary D., Wiley Joseph, David W., and Starling Jackson.
