I have an Elizabeth "Betsy" Lynch, who m. John Atkinson in 1838 Johnston Co. She was b. abt 1796, and was a dau.of Benjamin Stevens and Alice "Alsey" Herring Stevens. Betsy m. 1) Bryan(t) Lynch. I haven't determined his parents, but he and Betsy had two children, William H. Lynch and Harriet Lynch. I don't know what happened to William H Lynch, but Harriet Lynch married James Monroe Gurley in 1840 Johnston Co. He died in the Civil War in 1865 (place unknown), and Harriet moved with some of her daughters to the Marshal/DeSoto Co., Mississippi area by 1880. As this is my first post to the Johnston Co. list, I'll mention some of my other connections: David Strickland (b 1805), son of Davis Strickland (son of Samuel and Mary) m 1834 Johnston Co. Sophia Stevens (b. 1819), possibly illegitimate dau of Martha "Patsy" Stevens, prob. dau of Benjamin Stevens and Alice "Alsey" Herring Stevens. James Monroe Gurley (b. abt 1815), son of Jonathan (b. abt 1790) Gurley (parents unknown) and Arrena Bulls (b. abt 1794), possibly illegitimate dau of Mary "Polly" Bulls, dau. of Henry Bulls. Bryant Lynch (b. abt 1794); had brother Nicholas; their parents unknown, but possibly Cornelius Lynch. I would appreciate any info anyone may have on Betsy (dates, etc.) or any others in my lines.
