My greatgrandmother, Sally Kirby is in the household, 17 years of age. She was sent to live with Sarah Godwin after her father Jesse Kirby died in 1849. Sally Kirby married John Hawley. There is a marriage bond in Sampson County where a Sarah Hawley married an Edmund Godwin. (I've always wondered if this is the reason John Hawley (say) went to visit an aunt and met Sally Kiry.? Purely speculation. What do you think?
