NC. Haywood Godwin was the son of Sarah Godwin and an unkown father. Maybe ELI Godwin. He had a sister named Elizabeth Godwin born in 1836. He went into the Civil War as a Sgt. and Lost his right eye. He was discharged on Jan. 17, 1865. I have a picture of Haywood and Piety Godwin, his wife.
