William (Billy) Childers, 63, of Timmonsville, S.C. died Tuesday, February 6, 2001, at his home after an illness. Born in Smithfield, Johnston County, N.C., he was the son of the late McKinley and Hester Capps Childers. Mr Childers was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He and his wife founded the Lake Swamp Mission for Christ Church. The funeral was at 3 p.m. Thursday at Layton-Anderson Funeral Home in Timmonsville,S.C. Burial followed in the cemetery at Lake Swamp Baptist Church. Surving are his wife Billie Jane Mixon Childers;three sons,William J.Childers of Burgaw, Nelson Childers of Ivanhoe and Lanier Grantham of Bishopville,S.C.; five daughters, Rendy Massey and Kimberly Horrell, both of Curry, Billie Faye Grantham of Hartsville, S.C.,Dianne Overstreet of Santee,S.C., and Naomi Geddings of Bishopville,S.C.; three brothers Ronnie Childers, Donnie Childers and Joseph Childers, all of Ivanhoe; a sister, a sister, Louise Renfrow of Selma, N.C.; nine grandsons; and six grandaughters.
