Born in Smithfield, Johnston County, N.C., he was the son of the late McKinley and Hester Capps Childers. Mr Childers was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He and his wife founded the Lake Swamp Mission for Christ Church. The funeral was at 3 p.m. Thursday at Layton-Anderson Funeral Home in Timmonsville,S.C. Burial followed in the cemetery at Lake Swamp Baptist Church.
