    3. My name is Linda (Johnson) Griffin and I had put out some data on my family from NC. Their was a Daniel born about 1815-18 7 he had a brother named Joel Johnson born about 1814 in NC. Their parents came from NC or VA we think. All of the information we have has these two brothers as youngsters in the 1820's and their parents settled in McMinn Co., TN. Then when these brothers were grown ..Daniel had married a Margaret Brannon and they had their children in McMinn Co. Moved to Bradley Co., about 1840. Then his brother moved about 1850 and his wife was named Elizabeth ..they had their children in Bradley Co., TN. They lived on this property..about 1000 acres of land owned by a William Johnson and we don't know if they were related to him. Their children lived on this land and raised their families on it. Have one relative who is 78 and he has a wife who still live on 500 acres..a lot of the land got sold over the years. There have been five generations of Johnson's who have lived on this land by Cleveland, TN in Bradley Co. John Henry Johnson is his name and he always heard since he was a kid that Daniel and Joel came from NC...but never knew who the parents were. My only uncle left live in McMinn Co., TN and he is the same age as that cousin in Bradley Co. Our family never knew about the Johnson's in Bradley Co. until I started my John's family tree then found two more grandpa's and have a picture of the Daniel Johnson Family ..ERA 1865-67. It shows both grandparents in the photo. Would like to put it on the McMinn website but do not know how. Paid for my uncle to have the DNA test done and it shows cousins from Scotland, NY, NC, GA & Indiana. Really could use some help here. Have Lymn's Disease and it is hard for me to do all this work but it needs to be done for the young people in our Family. My family, Sanders, is from Jounston County, NC with some from Edgecombe, NC. The Sanders owned a great deal of land in Johnston County to include Sanders Grove, the Sanders-Hairr house, now called White Oak Plantation among other things. I also have a book put together by a distant aunt that details many things related to the Sanders line and Johnston County. It is well cited and may be useful to you. I would be more than willing to share information. As for your Revolutionary War ancestor, you may want to check with the Daughters of the American Revolution. They would most likely have information about specifics of his service. My ancestor is Hardy Sanders of Johnston County, NC Hope some of that helps. I have found two more of their children. I found a daughter Arena C. Adams who married Jno D. Ellis on 17 Oct 1867 in Johnston Co. Arena listed her parents as Jesse and Harriet Adams. I think that this is the daughter Avey that was 3 on the 1850 census. I have found a son Henry Adams who married Mary Ann Johnson on 8 Feb 1876 in Johnston Co. He also gave his parents as Jesse and Harriet Adams. He was born just after 1850. I feel that Harriet died because Jesse Adams married Mary (Polly) Mitchell on 16 Dec 1862 in Johnston Co. They had three children from that marriage. George Washington Adams, Jesse G. Adams & Sarah Jane Adams. I am very interested in the names of Martha Adams' siblings. I have not been able to find very much information on Jesse Adams and his wife Eleanor Guy, and their children. I have assumed that Jesse is one of Bryant Adams sons. I am correct? Jesse and Eleanor are on the 1850 Johnston Co. census. Sir William Adams and his family live next door. I am assuming that he is a son. I have been unable to find Sir William Adams and his family or Jesee Adams on any later census records. I would be interested in any information that you could share on this family. I descend from Jacob Adams and his wife Milly (unknown) from Johnston Co. Jacob was born about 1780 and died before 1850. I descend from his son David Adams who was born about 1800, and died after 1870. Jacob had several children per the early census records. I have been trying to determine who Jacob Adams children were. I have also been trying to determine who his siblings were. Many researchers felt that Jacob Adams was one of Bryant Adams sons. I have done quite a bit of research, and do not believe this to be true. Jacob was the executor of Howell Adams estate in 1800. Howell Adams and Bryant Adams are the earliest Adams head of households on the census records for Johnston County. Each of these gentlemen had several children on the 1790 census. I have been looking at all of the early Adams families in Johnston County, and trying to determine who belongs to whom. Any information about Martha, her siblings and her children would be appreciated. Louise Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
