Donna, If no one has told you already, Piney Grove Pentecostal FWB Church is located about 4 miles beside US 701 on the left going toward Newton Grove from Four Oaks (US 301 /I-95). It has a big parking lot. There is an identifying sign also. There is a cemetery to the right and behind the chapel. Best. Hi Victor, I have wondered about the Amos Peden - Polly Ann Edwards marriage. Is there any documentation that this is the same Amos who married Ann Ritor Howell? Does anyone have death dates and places for any of the three of them? We didn't know until recently that we are related to Amos' descendants and I'd love to hear from our "new" cousins who are descended from Amos. We live in the Kansas City area but grew up in Pittsburgh, PA. Any cousins close by? Clare Peden Midgley

Newton Grove is a town in Sampson County NC. Route 1 was a mailing address that changed when zip codes came in and all houses had to have an address. My daughter lives just outside Newton Grove and her mailing address used to be Route 1 Box (forgot the number) You could try contacting post office or other business in Newton Grove for some clues. Hope you find it. Does anyone know where Rebecca Fail lived at around Bentonville in Johnston Co., NC. She never married according to the census, but there is a Raynor cem. on the land she was living on. Can anyone help. She was born around 1835 and don't know when she died. In the 1880 census she was living between Black Barfield and William Basil, in the 1870 census she was living with Raiford Hagress in Bentonville Township. I think the area would be somewhere around Cox's mill. Thanks, Donna
I'm glad to hear that Edgecombe Co. is preserving its history. My husband's ancestor, William Godwin of Toisnot Swamp area in the late 1700's, has a will in Edgecombe recorded in 1873. His son, Thomas Godwin, moved on down into Johnston Co., raised a big family and died there in 1807. We were in Tarboro a few years ago looking at land records and wills. I know there were 2 William Godwins at about the same time--the other one had a wife, Tabitha. I don't know this William's ancestry. Do you have a website? Keep up the good work. You may need to look for Crocker Cemetery located between Selma & Pine Level. This is the largest cemetery for Pine Level. In a message dated 5/8/2008 3:04:53 A.M. I have been looking for information about Pine Level Cemetery, which is mentioned as their burial place but have been unable to turn up anything about a cemetery in or called Pine Level. Does anyone know what the correct name of this cemetery is? Does anyone have a clue on Patience's maiden name? Since our DNA results show that we are related to Amos Peden, supposedly the son of this couple, I have been researching this branch without much luck.
