Woodall (b. March 30, 1809 Johnston County, NC, d. before November 25, 1833 Johnston County, NC) and his wife Penelope Lassiter (b. about 1810 Johnston County, NC, d. between 1850-August 11, 1853 Johnston County, NC). Eldridge's father Jacob T. Woodall was the son of James Woodall (b. May 1, 1765 Goochland County, VA, d. August 19, 1834 Johnston County, NC) and wife Mary Allen (b. about 1767 perhaps Johnston County, NC, d. May 16, 1853 Johnston County, NC). Eldridge's mother Penelope Lassiter was the daughter of Elijah Lassiter (b. August 4, 1762 Northampton County, NC, d. March, 1848 Johnston County, NC). Jacob T. Woodall and his wife Penelope "Penny" Lassiter had been married in Johnston County, NC on August 29, 1826. Jacob T. Woodall died prior to November 25, 1833 when his son Eldridge Woodall was an infant. On February 14, 1835, Penelope (Lassiter) Woodall remarried to George Stephenson (b. about 1813 Johnston County, NC, d. April 15, 1886 Johnston County, NC), son of David Stephenson and wife Arey Johnson. The following August 24, 1835, George Stephenson was appointed guardian of the four minor heirs of Jacob T. Woodall, namely, Gideon, William, Eldridge, and Martha Ann Woodall. On the 1850 Federal Census of Johnston County, NC, Eldridge Woodall was listed as a 17 year old (1833) male farmer living in the household of his 82 year old grandmother Polly (Allen) Woodall [District Number 4, p. 31b, Household # 463]. On February 19, 1852 in Wake County, NC, Eldridge Woodall married Siddy Hill. On the 1860 Federal Census of Johnston County, NC, Eldridge Woodall was enumerated as a 28 year old male day laborer born in NC, along with wife Siddy age 28 (1832), daughter Malissa age 4 (1856), son William age 3 (1857), and daughter Penelope age 1 (1859) [District West of Neuse River, p. 374, Household # 477/456]. The area in which he was then living would be present day Elevation Township, Johnston County, NC. Eldridge Woodall served in the Civil War. He enlisted as a private in Company I, 24th North Carolina Infantry Regiment on May 1, 1862. Service records indicate that he died in a Richmond, VA hospital on November 30, 1862. Siddy (Hill) Woodall was still living in 1880, when she was listed in Panther Branch Township of Wake County, NC as a 45 year old (1835) female. Living with her were son William H. Woodall age 22 (1858), daughter Penny age 21 (1859), son Jacob age 19 (1861), and daughter Sallie A. age 18 (1862) [Panther Branch Township, pp. 225b-226a, Household # 199/223]. The Children of Jacob T. Woodall and Penelope Lassiter were: 1. Gideon Woodall, b. September 26, 1827 Johnston County, NC, d. July 23, 1883 Johnston County, NC; 1md. February 16, 1848 Johnston County, NC, Tobitha Dixon, b. November 28, 1828 Johnston County, NC, d. June 17, 1879 Johnston County, NC, daughter of Patrick Dixon and Delaney Hill; 2md. October 16, 1879 Johnston County, NC, Lucy Hawkins (Johnson) Dixon, b. October 17, 1829 Johnston County, NC, d. July 9, 1909 Johnston County, NC, daughter of Edmund Johnson and Wilsey Johnson, widow of Lemuel Dixon. Buried Elevation United Methodist Church Cemetery, Elevation Township, Johnston County, NC. 2. William Woodall, b. about 1829 Johnston County, NC. In 1850, he was residing in the household of Moore Stephenson, brother of his step-father George Stephenson [Wake County, Western Division, pp. 222a-b, Household # 769. William Woodall married on March 6, 1851 in Wake County, NC, Martha Ann Parish. On the 1860 Wake County, NC Census, he is listed as a 31 year old (1829) farmer, with wife Martha age 27 (1833), son Hurcarius age 7 (1853), and son Menessa age 2 (1858) [Southern Division, p. 12, Household #183]. In 1870, William Woodall was listed in Panther Branch Township age 40 (1830), along with wife Martha age 35 (1835), son Hurknas age 16 (1854), son Manasas age 12 (1858), daughter Catherine age 9 (1861), and son John W. age 8 (1862) [p. 188, Household # 85]. Martha Woodall was listed age 46 (1834) in Panther Branch Township, Wake County, NC on the 1880 census, along with son Manassa age 22 (1858), daughter Mary age 8 (1872), and daughter Mantia age 18 (1862)! None of their children married a Lassiter, however, Haywood's brother Levy Right Moore married a Lucy C. Lassiter who was the daughter of Alfred Lassiter and Dinah Jones. Alfred was the son of William Lassiter and Lucy Stephenson. Her siblings were: Mary Lassiter Margaret Lassiter Sarah Lassiter William Henry Lassiter Martha Lassiter John William Lassiter (the one I'm thinking where Haywood & Dorcas are buried) Willis Alfred Lassiter Eveline Lassiter Louie/Lula Jane Lassiter I do know that it was said that when Lucy died they buried her, but for some reason she was taken years later from her original burial place and transfered to Clement Cemetery where she is now. I can't remember the details of why she was moved. I want to say I think she was on family land and moved..but why I don't know.
