Lewis BRADY married Elisabeth GILES in Johnston County, NC on May 13, 1770. Does anyone know of this family? Bill Allen <misterbill@pdq.net>
Hi ya'll, John GILES and Elizabeth PITTES were my GG-grandparents. They were married in Johnston County, NC on January 28, 1828. Their first child was born in NC. Their second child was born in GA. Their next 7 were born in AL. And their last 2 were born in MS. John and Elizabeth are buried in Lauderdale County, MS. I've been trying for over 2 years to find their GILES and PITTES parents. When I found 2 other PITTES marriages in Johnston County, I thought perhaps they were sisters of Elizabeth. I don't know anything about Jesse KENNEDAY except that he married Darcas PITTES on December 25, 1821 in Johnston County, North Carolina. Cherokee Indian stories abound in Johnston Co families, but so far I have never seen one of them proved. There simply were no Cherokees in that part of the state, especially not in the 1840s. There were (and still are) some people in the Sampson Co NC area who are of Native American ancestry. The key question is --where was Robert OLIVER living when he married his second and third wives?
