    3. Gail, someone from Sampson County, N. Car., sent me some scanned deeds from that county. I found a number of Ingram names, and Kings. I notice in your records that your Nancy King was born March 27, 1777, in Sampson County. Have you researched Sampson County? I read in Elizabeth Thorton Sills's application for a pension that she and her husband lived in Sampson County before moving to Lowndes County. NC Queries Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/NC/Johnston/1932 Surname: Corbett, Hocutt, Wall, Tippett ------------------------- This past week I took a trip to a Hocutt reunion in Johnston County and visited my Aunt Erdene Corbett Narron for several days.I took a bunch of my genealogy stuff to the Heritage Center and let them copy it. If anybody is interested, there is a whole new Corbett file at the Center now.It now has records for several JoCo Confederate soldiers named Corbett, including my 2 gr grandpa,Jeremiah Corbett. There are 3 photos of his grave in the Old City Cemetery,Confederate Section,in Lynchburg,VA.Also a copy of the letter written by the clerk telling my grandma Willie Brown Corbett that Jeremiah had died. There are also new copies of military records of several of my Hocutt soldiers. There are 2 different men named James A. Hocutt, also Lemuel Hocutt,Caswell Hocutt,Irvin Wilder Hocutt, and my 3 uncles that were killed in battles, the brothers Elisha Ruffin Hocutt,Stephen Hocutt, and William Hocutt, who were the eldest children of the Rev. Henderson Hocutt, that started the Antioch Baptist Church. I also put in the military records for my uncle Rufus D. Wall, who was shot in the foot at Sharpsburg and in the arm at Petersburg. If anybody knows his wife's maiden name and if he has living descendants,I'd sure like to know about it. Also I put in something that a park ranger made for me,that shows the movements of the 24th N.C.Inf. Reg. at the Battle of Sharpsburg. I hope someone finds some of this useful. Gary S. He had a son named Alfred Standley. HARRIS STANLEY lived at one time at a place called MONK'S STORE in Sampson County, NC. he married a Matilda Hall that was called "Tillie". He had a daughter named Susan "Susie" Standly who married HENRY GRAY CAPPS of Johnston County, NC. They had a daughter named SALLY JANE CAPPS that married MARTIN VAN BUREN TALTON and their son LEONARD WADE TALTON married LUETTA LYNCH WOODARD IN Boonhill Twnsp. Johnston County NC. near the little town of Princeton NC. All these people are my Family. The time peroid is 1840-50 thru 1995. I live in Virginia but all of my relatives were North Caroline natives and I was born in North Carolina. The above information I have has but one person GREAT UNCLE ALFRED STANLEY who the Census of 1850 says he was born in Georgia. I found his Confederate grave and marker in the cemetery at Mount Olive NC. and all that was on the stone was his Name and his Co. and Regtm. he served in during the War Between the States. This information corresponds with his service record. He died in the Confederate Hospital in Raleigh, NC in 1924 and my mother remembered visting him with my father and his parents before he died. She also attended his funeral. I know this is a long E-mail and I thought maybe you had some related information to this STANLEY-STANLY-STANDLY FAMILY. I enjoyed so much hearing about your connection to the same Woodard family as mine who were so good to my Mother. I look forward to hearing from you again. I am, Sincerely, Westa Talton Morris daughter of Leonard Wade Talton and Luetta S. Lynch Woodard Talton. NNVA

    1. [NCGUILFO] Extraction of slave names from documents.
    2. sue
    3. Hello all, I've just finished extracting and posting names of slaves and their owners from estate records and a bible in Chatham Co. http://www.rootsweb.com/~ncchatha/slaves.htm These records have been extremely difficult, for me, as a descendant of slave owners, to do. But, I felt that they needed to be available to any of African-American ancestry. Also, those of you that had ancestors who were slave owners may find that, this will be the only record, your folks are in. There are names of people from other counties and states. In some cases relationships are given in the sales. Use your 'find in page' feature in your browser to look for these folks. Hope it helps someone.
