1. [NCJOHNST] 1840 Census Online, Plus Quick Search file
    2. Warren T. Bagley
    3. The 1840 Johnston County Census is now online on our site at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ncjohnst/ There is also a 1784 - 1840 "Quick Search" file that is sorted by name then census year. It does not have the census data but is nice for searching a name prior to looking at the individual census files. You are aware that the spelling of names through these census years were frequently different and is very obvious in the Quick Search file. It is impossible for me to correct these spelling of names. Some of you have made suggestions about how to make the files easier to read. Thanks for these comments and I will continue to try to improve them. One suggestion is to add "0's" is the blank fields to make the columns read better. I am rusty on how to do macros, etc., but will improve them as I can. If anyone is good at Microsoft Excell macros, please contact me. This completes my plans to put all the 1784 through 1840 census records online and has added a few more gray hairs over the last year or so. Thanks Pat for much of the typing. What shall we put online next? Happy Holidays and please enjoy! Warren

Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Diana, That was a neat graphic. To those that might be interested... The graphic was generated from the AniMap Program. http://www.goldbug.com This is an amazing computer program that gives you step by step, county by county animation of each state in the union, state by state, according to your choice. I'm not a shareholder or have any interest in this company. Just was a purchaser of the program when it first came out several years ago. The above URL has a link that lets you download a demo. As you said Diana, it is a wonderful geography/history lesson in that, each graphic change of county line or border of unorganized territory is also, given a text explanation of what happened. You can see what I did with it, in my Chatham Co. page. http://www.rootsweb.com/~ncchatha/chatmaps.htm Unlike, Dollarhide's census maps (although great in their own way) This gives you the origin of the U.S. from first settlement through the last county boundary change, in the present day. 1. Re: [NCJOHNST] Esther Avera and Richard Ingram
    2. FW I
    3. Gail, I am not sure what question you are asking about Richard Ingram, but I will be happy to answer if you will clarify what you mean by "who Richard Ingram belongs to in this notation." But in brief, three children of Thomas Avera, Sr., testator of 1761, Johnston Co NC, married three children of Richard Ingram, testator of 1780, Johnston Co NC. Thomas Avera, Sr. died young leaving a pregnant wife and several orphan sons. Richard Ingram died 20 years later and much older leaving grandchildren. In his will, Richard Ingram, named two of his daughters as Elizabeth Avera and Zilpha Avera. William Avera and Samuel Avera were witnesses to Richard Ingram's Will. Both had been orphan sons of Thomas Avera, Sr. when he died and there are guardian records to document all of this as well as a Marriage Bond for Samuel Avera and Zilpha Ingram. Samuel's brother, William Avera, married Elizabeth Ingram. Mary Avera, an older daughter of Thomas Avera Sr, married John Ingram, the son of Richard Ingram. John Ingram died without a will in 1781, Johnston Co NC. His Estate Papers survive in the NC Archives. Mary Avera's marriage to John Ingram in Johnston Co NC was documented by Bussey researchers based on material from personal papers and a old Ingram/Bussey Family Bible donated to a genalogical library in AL. Bussey researchers were interested because Thomas Ingram and John Ingram, brothers and grandsons of Thomas Avera, Sr (1761) and Richarch Ingram (1780) and orphan sons of John Ingram and Mary Avera (1781) married two daughters of Hezekiah Bussey in Lincoln Co GA around 1800. William Avera and Elizabeth Ingram Avera moved to Cumberland Co NC not long after Richard Ingram's death. I have documented all of this from court records and land transactions. There is no mistake about this despite the fact that it is not in keeping with some early DAR records. For those who are interested in DAR affairs, and I am not one of them, should know that Richard Ingram is a DAR Patriot and his military service during the Revolution is documented in the Court Martial Minutes from Johnston Co NC. Also, I have posted an annotated transcription of Thomas Avera, Sr's 1761 Will on the Johnston Co NC Gen Web pages. Hope that this helps, but if anyone has information to share about these matters please let me know. I am eager to learn more and to revise my thinking if I have made an error. Franklin Ingram ----- Original Message ----- From: Gail Hopkins Sent: Sunday, December 03, 2000 8:46 AM To: NCJOHNST-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [NCJOHNST] Esther Avera Hello, copied a portion of an e mail about Averet line. I am wondering if anyone knows who Richard Ingram belongs to in this notation. THANKS Gail Ps looking for Nancy Ingram's line she was m. to Samuel Thornton b. 1828 son of David Thornton from Sampson lived in Wayne co. NC. Samuel Thornton lived in Johnston co. NC also. In the meantime you might want to know that William Avera, the son of Thomas Avera, SR, testator of 1761, married Elizabeth Ingram, the daughter of Richard Ingram, and not a Sarah Pritchet. Also, one must be cautious about using DAR data for Avera/Averyt/Avery Patriots from Johnston CO NC. I have found a number of significant errors in this particular material.

Get more from the Web.
