Posted on: Johnston Co. NC Queries Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/NC/Johnston/2040 Surname: Bulls ------------------------- Hello to Westa Talton Morris- Yes, my relations are with the Bulls Family of Johnston Co., NC. It has been said that if you meet someone of the surname Bulls in the U.S., then you are most likely related. While "Bull" is a common name of English descent, "Bulls" is rare and more distinct. I will be doing a little more research in January. We are related to Henry Bulls, who was born approx. 1715-20, probably in Southampton, VA. He is likely the son of William or Jesse Bull of Southampton Co., VA, although I do not have the verified proof to certify this. see this webpage for this information: http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=flyhome&id=I1109 He married Mary Moore (Bulls). On Sept. 26th, 1766, Henry Bulls was granted land along the Bawdy and Mockason Swamps, adjacent to the Neuse River, Johnston Co., NC. (NC Land Grant Book 17, p.324) Based upon his will, it can be said that Henry Bulls wished to create a large Plantation(s) for his family and sons. This wish would not last past the next generation. All information for Henry Bulls comes from his will and land grants/deeds. On August 23rd, 1768, Henry deeded land, with affection, to his oldest son, Henry Jr., who was born in 1747. I have a list of all of Henry's children in Johnston Co., NC and their families, but not with me presently. I am related through Barnabas Bulls, Henry and Mary's son born 1750, Johnston Co., NC All of the basic research based upon Henry Bulls' will is available on- http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/ Please feel free to stay in touch- William Wagner

I was looking for the Friendship, which brought my Ehrenhardts over in Nov. 1744 and someone gave me this URL to a huge immigration web site. http://www.ristenbatt.com/genealogy/shplst21.htm This is the one from the Friendship but you can find links to other parts of the site. I couldn't get the map of Lancaster PA to come up but there is a listing of the old/new names of the various townships that can be printed out. Another site is: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ote/ship_1700.htm I couldn't find the Friendship there but there are a lot of other ships, just as there are on http://istg.rootsweb.com/ for the ships the Guild has gotten around to transcribing (many many) Have a marvelous Holiday Season. Review - you need the CD # 3 from a 15 CD package prduced by SerraHome called " Generations Family Tree- Grande Suite 6.0 online address is www.sierrahome.com ( you may be able to get the CD in another kit of theirs by going to this web site) I found this box set at my local store called Price Club here in CA and bought it on sale for $25.00 about a year ago. The listing for CD 3 is that it has 5 million men who fought in the Civil War and also has- National Archives for Rev War, War of 1812, Civil War, WWI and WWII. I have only checked out the CW listings so far and found my 2 grt-grd-fathers listed. I found John Miles Cope and his brother James McCoy Cope listed 16th Tex Cav Co ( F ) . I happen to have several pages of the 1860 Collin CO TX census with these men on it and so I went to work next looking for any male listed from about 14 on in 1860 on that census and found 7 more neighbors in the 16th TX Cav CO ( F ) on that CD. This means you need the complete 1860 census in any state listing your Ancestor on it and then go into the CD and type that complete name in the look for column and see if their neighbors show up with your Ancestor in the same unit ( some of them are in-laws and brothers and maybe a father ) The CD does not list the members by unit so it is a name by name search. Example if you type in the surname of Jones you will get several hundred men named Jones but if you type the complete name it will narrow it down. Plese I can't do any look-ups for you but I can lead you to ways in finding more of your Ancestors and who they fought with in the CW. David ( trying to help us all ) Cope PS- if there is another way of finding these men in the same unit then let me know and I will pass it on. ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO!
