Many of us have wondered for quite some time which Massengill bunch Avey came from. Would it be a safe assumption from this bit of info that Avey was the daughter of George Massingill? Does anybody have any info on George Massingill? Would the lady that was selling the Massengills of Johnston County book still have some copies? Thanks.

Posted on: Johnston Co. NC Queries Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/NC/Johnston/2142 Surname: JONES, BLACKWOOD, BOYKIN, EDWARDS, MEARS, CAINE, TURNER ------------------------- Searching for family of a HARDY JONES I think born ca 1780 in the Wake/Johnston area. I have found the division of slaves from the estate of one JOHN JONES in Wake Co 1794 listing his widow MARY and heirs including a HARDY JONES a minor at the time (1794) when his brother Willie was appointed as his guardian. I have seen several trees which link this Hardy Jones son of John/Mary Jones to the marriage of PEGGY MEARS in Wake Co, 1801 and migrating to Limestone Al where he died in 1846. Would like to prove or disprove that my Hardy Jones of Johnston Co, is or is not son of John Jones d.1794 Wake Co. My Hardy married ELIZABETH TURNER JONES (widow of William Jones nephew to John and Mary Caine Jones) about 1811. We have not found a record of their marriage but we know that they were married and in Johnston Co in 1811 when Hardy is found in court records receiving cash for clothing and board for the orphans of William Jones. The first child of Hardy and Elizabeth was my ggg-grandfather Nathaiel G. Jones born 16 Jun 1813. My Hardy Jones died in Johnston Co by Aug 1837 and found in 1840 the division of lands listing all of his children and their portions: NATHANIEL G., DAVID T., ELIZABETH JANE (BOYKIN), MARY EUGENIA (BLACKWOOD), and AMANDA M.(EDWARDS). Elizabeth then died in Johnston Co ca 1848 (will written 1846 probated Aug 1848). I have found no document which lists a Hardy Jones as heir to any estate other than the one of John Jones d. 1794. If he is not the son of this John, then where does he belong????? Any tidbits of information will be greatly appreciated. Karen Hayes khayes@netpath.net
