NC Queries Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/NC/Johnston/12333 Surname: Johnson, Peedin ------------------------- I have found several things for you to look at. The only close Johnson I found in the Johnston County Genealogical Society cemetery records is a McKay Johnson born 1822 died 1910 and the husband of Sarah C. Johnson. This is in the McKay Johnson cemetery in Elevation Township. Is this your man? Also, there are four Peedin cemeteries (see the Johnston web site for names), but none of them in Selma Township. You did not mention names of anyone you were looking there. I'm a little confused by your message. Also, Selma is not close to Elevation Township. Warren

    3. I received the following letter from Lenoir Cc. Register of Deeds.Has anyone else had this problem??If I knew all this info I would not need the death certificate!!!Lenior Co.is the only one I have had a problem with and this is the second time. The first time they said they did not have time to do genealogy. Ms.Fuller: In order to search our records for the death certificates you requested,we need some additional information. We must know the race of the deceased person since our early records are divided by race.We also must know at least one of the parents names of the deceased since it is very possible for more than one person to have the same name. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have been sending for death and marriage certificates from Lenoir Co for at least 5 years!!Never had to have this info before. 3. Posted on: Johnston Co. NC Queries Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/NC/Johnston/12329 Surname: Lee ------------------------- Tula, My Great Grandfather was born on May 1, 1871 and married 3 times. First wife was Sis Giles. They had a daughter. Mrs Giles Lee died shortly after birth of child and he gave daughter Emma up for adoption. Emma married CB Weaver and they moved to Flordia. 2nd wife Ardella "Sis" Jones and George had two children. Elton (never married) and Leander(my grandfather) . 3rd marriage was to Minnie Tew they had 7 children. Jessie, Mahalee, Nellie, Gertrude, Geneva, Thelma and Robert Worth Lee. I spoke to Robert W. and he gave me the 3 marriages. Mr. Rosser sent me a very detailed list with lots of others listed. I also have George Robert's dad as James Wilson Sept 1873 married Susanna Barefoot. George Robert had 10 other brothers and sisters. He is the oldest. William Avery, Moses Atlas, Zilphoa D. , Fred Utley, Mary Frances, James Thomas, Vira Elizabeth, John Kenyon "Joh K.", Valton B., and Iva Mae Lee. Is this info close to the info you have? I hope so. It's hard to keep looking when there are so many pieces. I'm having trouble with Leanders Wife's (Susan Lee) grandfather. With the 1890 Census destroyed it leaves a blank spot in my research. I have called Beulah Baptist and asked them to call me back. I hope some info will be in church records. George Robert is in the Grove Pres. Church Cemetary. Harnett Co. about a mile down the road from Beulah. If I can help more feel free to E-Mail me. I live in Garner, NC. Maybe we can get our notes together sometime. thanks for your response.

    3. Hello Fellow Hunters!! PLEASE answer and help, if you can: I am searching for evidence that Geo. Joseph (or Josh George) BOYETTE was A) married to Sally LANGLEY. I have the estimated marriage date as before 8 JAN 1822. The marriage was probably in Johnston County. I'm also searching for verification that THESE are not the parents of the George BOYETTE who married Tamsey O'NEAL. According to a few secondary sources I have, the Joseph BOYETTE who married Sally LANGLEY is George and Tamsey's son (and not his parents). 3. Posted on: Johnston Co. NC Obituaries Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/NC/JohnstonObits/10056 Surname: Barber ------------------------- I know this is a hard one. My grandma's grandpa, Doctor Ruffin Barber, is buried somewhere in a churchyard in Johnston County. About 30 years ago, my great-aunt and I went hunting his gravestone. All I know is it was (I think) somewhere off Hwy. 210 in a church yard. His gravestone was way back toward the wooded area of the graveyard of the church. I believe it was in the Elevation section of Johnston County. His birthdate was 1837, and we believe his death date was 1937. I have visited every grave yard I could find in Elevation township, with no luck. He was married to Mary Johnson, so I also checked all the church yards with Johnsons buried in them. I am at a loss, since all the folks who would know where he is buried are dead now. He was a good ol' fella, joined up with the CSA in 1861 when he was 23, along with about 20 other Barbers, on the same day. His wife's daddy was Isaac Johnson. It would do my heart good to find his grave site, but I am beginning to give up hope of ever finding him. If any of y'all find a Doctor Ruffin Barber whilst searching graveyards, I would appreciate your letting me know. Thanks.

    3. Posted on: Johnston Co. NC Queries Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/NC/Johnston/12324 Surname: Lee, Young ------------------------- I have found most of the info I think for the Lee's at Grove. However I have Lee's on my grandmothers side at Beulah Baptist in Johnston Co. about 1 mile down the road from Grove in Harnett Co. Grandmother is Susan Lee married Leander Lee(Son of George Robert Lee buried at Grove). Susans father is William R. Lee and mother Betsey(Elizabeth) Young (daughter of Sam T. and Pheobe Young). I have found Williams mothers name thru marriage register Johnston Co. 1881-1900 Listed as Sarah A. Lee. Father is listed as unknown. Do you or anyone out there have any info on the father? I have not found Bastardy Bonds for Johnston Co. I do know they are out there but I have been unable to locate them. I have checked with several web sites and come up empty when searching for these type records. Can you or some of your contacts help? I know that the tombstones at Beulah are not exactly right with dates. I found my grandmother was born Nov,1899 her tombstome states 1900. Found Census record of 1900 that state 1889. They list her mothers birthday May 1870. William R. was not listed with her in the 1900 Census Loose will dated July 4, 1900 does not list names of relatives. I did find out that my grand mother was the youngest of 4. Phebe Eliza (Beasley)Born Sep. 1891, Ira H. (married Serena Adams) Nov 1895, Lettie(not buried in either graveyard still searching)born Nov 1897. I was surprised since I only knew of a brother. It does list her as owner of the farm they lived on and I know this land is now owned by Barefoots (Nokalee and Mozelle).Well I could go on and on. Thank you again for your help at Grove. If I can help in your search please let me know. I have every little time between working at a CPA office, 12 year old son and 7 year old daughter my reaserch is confined to internet and some NC Archives(State Library) a few hours once a month on the weekends. But I will be glad to help you if I can.
