NC Queries Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/NC/Johnston/12343 Surname: Lassiter, Eason, Temple, Starling, Peedin, Stanley, Stanly, Stevenson, Millinder ------------------------- Thank you for your assistance. I went to the Heritage Center this past weekend and found the McKoy Johnson Cemetery which is in fact the McKay Johnson Cemetery as I expected. I am aware that Selma is not near Elevation Township, I live in Elevation Township, I just need to find my Peedin family in Selma. Most of my Peedin family members are not listed in the 7 Volumes of Cemetery listings in the Heritage Center. My Peedin family begins with Sophronia Peedin, who married Daniel Starling, it continues with her mother Patsy Peedin, father unknown, and grandparents, Drusilla and Edwards Peedin, etc. Along with trying to find where they are buried I'm trying to find out who her father is. I have a copy of her death certificate and it has no beneficial information on it. Again, thanks for your help.

NC Queries Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/NC/Johnston/12342 Surname: Lassiter, Eason, Temple, Peedin, Peeden, Johnson, Starling, Millinder, and more ------------------------- The phone number for the Johnston County Heritage Center is 919/934-7869. I purchased my book last fall and they had to look around to find a copy for me to purchase. The book was published in 1988, so I imagine there are not many copies left, and there are no plans to reprint it that I know of at this time. The North Carolina State Library has a copy of the Heritage book for each county that published one and provided the library with a copy.

Hi, JOCO-scendants! The listserv Meredith Page has set up so we can plan for the Johnston County Reunion (week of July 4, 2002) is now up and running. If you are interested, join our planning party at NC-JC-REUNION-L@rootsweb.com (or you can sign up for the digest version). Learn more about the Johnston County Reunion at http://www.geocities.com/jcncheritage, and remember the site will continue to grow as we complete our plans. The first step is to create and charter a private, non-profit corporation under NC statute so we can charge dues and accept other monies (gifts, grants, etc.). I will be setting this up in late May when I attend the Acorn Festival in Four Oaks. If we fail miserably and have even $1.17 left over, we want to be sure that money goes to the Heritage Center. We are exploring whether the Reunion will be a separate entity or one that has some affiliate relationship to the Heritage Center. It will help us if all of you who have an interest in supporting this reunion, which we believe will be held every other year, would indicate to us what you think dues should be. We need to have a certain amount of operating capital to rent meeting places, arrange for clean-up, etc., and keep lists, maps, etc. All suggestions and any thoughts at all are welcome. Join us. Ann Massengill, Acting Chair Johnston County Reunion (soon to be Inc.)

Posted on: Johnston Co. NC Wills Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/NC/JohnstonWill/10103 Surname: Peacock ------------------------- I had sent to the NC Archives for a copy of this will. They sent back copies of the handwritten documents and it is clearly Lesley/Lisley--the capital L is exactly the same as the L used in Last will & testement and Life in the document. In the both the first & second wills he uses Lisley and then Lesley the two times she is mentioned. I too am descended from his brother John and Patience Raiford through their daughter Sarah.

Posted on: Johnston Co. NC Wills Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/NC/JohnstonWill/10102 Surname: PEACOCK, DAVEY, HORTON, RAIFORD ------------------------- It's wonderful to see this will here. I am a descendant of this Samuel's brother John (who married Patience Raiford). I do have one question. This will shows his wife as Lesley. I've never seen wife's name other than Tilsey or Cicily. Could what you have be transcribed wrong, or do you think the other researchers had it wrong, or could there be a second wife? Your opinion appreciated. - Ray
Posted on: Johnston Co. NC Queries Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/NC/Johnston/12335 Surname: O'Neal, Dodd ------------------------- I'm trying to figure out some of my O'Neal ancestry, for which I have some incomplete information. The basic question,is this-which Isom or Isham O'Neal was the father of Rebecca O'Neal, that married Theophilus Dodd? They are a set of my 3rd gr grandparents. In the Heritage of Johnston County book,Mary Ann Barbour states that Rebecca was the daughter of Isham O'Neal,of Johnston County,in story # 85. I don't have enough info to be sure which Isham O'Neal this is. On a GEDCOM that I have,it shows this for the O'Neal family. 1.Unknown O'Neal 2.Unknown O'Neal had 3 sons-Moses,Micajah,and William. 3.Moses married Nancy-children were-Isham,Wiley,William,John,Martha,Nancy,Obedience. 4.Isham O'Neal married Ann Aerundell 23 APR 1779.4 children-Isham Jr.,Milla,Allen, and Samuel. Isham also married Ann Pearce 14 OCT 1800,no children listed. 5.Isham O'Neal Jr. married Savel Hill.No info on children. So there is my question-did my grandma Rebecca O'Neal come from Isham O'Neal Sr.,Isham O'Neal Jr.,or some other Isham O'Neal? Any help or corrections will be greatly appreciated.
