Hello everyone,,,I have been keeping an eye on a small family cemetary,,over here between Pine Level,,and,,Princeton,,I have noticed the a tree that was 100 years old,,that was planted by the cemetary, has been cut down,,and i am not sure, if the tombstones are still there. I guess when they cut the wheat that is growing around it,,i will find out. What i would like to know is,,who do you contact in this county,,if someone destroys a cemetary,,or,,Plows Over it? I think in NC,,it is a felony,,if im not mistaken. Any comments, or info, on this subject,,would be greatly,,appreciated.,,,,Thanks,,,Gerald Baine, Jr.

Posted on: Johnston Co. NC Queries Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/NC/Johnston/12351 Surname: Peacock, Raiford, Davey ------------------------- Jesse Peacock b abt 1747, son of John and Patience was an officer in the Revolutionary War (Lt., I believe), according to Pierce's "Birds of a Feather." I recently discovered obits and a bio of my grandfather Rufus W. Peacock, Jesse's grandson, that say his grandfather was an "aid de-camp on General Washington's staff." Of course, this was over 100 years later, and could be family exaggeration. Can anyone suggest a way of trying to verify that it is true that Jesse served on Washington's staff?

NC Queries Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/NC/Johnston/12350 Surname: Peacock, Raiford, Davey ------------------------- My gggg grandfather Jesse PEACOCK (son of John and Patience) (b abt 1747) was married to Elizabeth abt 1777/78, and they had 10 children. Is there any way to track down Elizabeth's maiden name and ancestry? I believe marriage was in Johnston Co., but chance it was in Wayne. Would there be any marriage records? Also, his Son Wiley (b abt 1796) was married to Lefa around 1826 (since first child 1827), and I'm also interested in her maiden name/ancestry, although I'm quite sure that would more likely be Wayne Co.

NC Queries Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/NC/Johnston/12349 Surname: ------------------------- Has anyone in Johnston County come across listings of Bible records published in FAMILY PUZZLERS, the weekly genealogy magazine edited by Mary Bondurant Warren from 1964 until 1998? I thought that HERITAGE PAPERS went out of business when Mrs. Warren stopped publishing Puzzlers the end of 1998. Not so!! I recently found the new websites for HERITAGE PAPERS as well as for FAMILY PUZZLERS, TNG, the monthly magazine edited by Mrs. Warren's daughter Amy Warren Sanders! Most of the items that Heritage Papers used to advertise in their annual catalog are still available, including back issues of the quarterly magazines GEORGIA GENEALOGIST and CAROLINA GENEALOGIST, lots of historic maps, as well as source materials for Virginia, North and South Carolina, and Georgia. Some bound volumes of Family Puzzlers are still available. For Heritage Papers, go to http://www.galaxymall.com/books/heritagepapers For Family Puzzlers, The Next Generation, go to http://www.galaxymall.com/books/familypuzzlers I just thought you'd like to know! When you read a deed abstract from one of the books, the entry often gives the neighbors of a plot of land. However, it is still difficult to identify exactly where the property was located. When the original deed was registered, was there also a drawing made of the plot? In that case, was that drawing also filed with the court and is it available from the state archives/county records? Don't know if there is any connection here. My ggg grandfather's sister, Priscella PEACOCK, m Godfrey Stansill abt 1802 in Johnston Co., NC. According to Peacock Family Ass'n of the South, children were William, Godfrey Jr., Evaline and Larkin. William married Millie and they had 9 children. First born was an Allen, born 1833. I suppose that naming a firstborn child Allen could mean your Ester ALLEN was an ancester of this family. - Ray ----- Original Message ----- From: "Betty STANCIL Segal" <bssegal@mindspring.com> To: <NCJOHNST-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, May 04, 2001 12:01 PM Subject: [NCJOHNST] Jesse MORGAN m.
