Hello, I am trying to find out any information regarding Frances Evans Renfrow. She was my great grandmother. Her husband was William Ruffin Renfrow of Spring Hill, Wilson, NC. They were married in 1876 in Wilson at the home of Simon Barnes, JP. Frances was born on June 1, 1855 and died on June 30, 1929 in Wilson. William was born in 1855 and died in Wilson in 1912. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Janet Smith Charlotte, NC

Good morning all, I haven't posted for awhile...so I thought that I would just take a few moments this morning to do so. I'm looking for other researchers... who are looking for any of the following surnames...which are now well proven as residents of this area of NC during the 1780's and 1790's... ROSSER, VINSON, WATKINS, BARBER, PATTON Specifically...I'm researching: James ROSSER m. Alice WORTHING b.15 Mar 1738, Charles City Co. VA [Often written as 1738/39 due to the calendar changes.] [FTM...ONLY lists the 1738/1739 as the year. Most odd.] m. 1765 in Prince George Co. VA [orig. Charles City] d. d. 12 Apr 1799; Probate finished in 1800. Reace [Reech, Reese, Rise, Rhys] WATKINS m. Sarah BARBER b. 1730, Chester Co., PA m. Augusta Co., VA d. 1807, Oglethorpe Co., GA Ironically...they lived in the same NC area...but their descendants inter-married on 14 Apr 1916 in El Paso TX. Since both families were the normal...large ones, there are lots of my cousins out there, and some are digging into the family histories. The VINSON connection is both a lateral, as well as a direct line, to my ROSSER. The PATTON connection is a lateral to my WATKINS-BARBER. The CAMPBELL, and BELINDEN, are my direct line back to the Cadawalader WATKINS line and BARBER. Thanking all in advance, Lisa Grimes [email protected] Surname DNA Project Coordinator for ROSSER and GRIMES ================================================= -- No virus found in this outgoing message. I have tried to research JOHN POOL (d.1832--wife Elizabeth), but there were two John Pools in Rowan Co. in this time frame. One was descended from the Dutch Van Pools and apparently the other was an English Pool/Poole. There was a family story that we were Dutch and originally Van Pools, but this might just be a story. One Van Pool researcher told me that the property of my John Pool was not located in the same area as the other Van Pools, but I don't know if this is accurate or relevant. In addition, that Van Pool researcher said that my John Pool was too wealthy (owned slaves--I have a document on this) and therefore could not be a Van Pool. John Pool turned up in Rowan Co., NC about 1810. He bought valuable property, so he was not from a poor family. Where did the money come from? I suspect he moved from another NC county before coming to Rowan Co. NC. Blow aare his descendants. DAVID L(awton?). POOL(B.1810-13) was a silversmith in Salisbury, Rowan Co., NC after the death of his father JOHN POOL(wife ELIZABETH, d.1839) in 1832. David was the executor of his father's will. Later David L. Pool sold his share of the Rowan Co. plantation/property to his brother Joseph. Other children of John and Elizabeth Pool (besides David L.) named in the will were: 1)ELIZABETH POOL (b.6/1807-d.1834) m.PETER M. BROWN (m.1828) John Lewis Brown m. Nannie Jane Kerr Margaret C. POOL is the father of my ggrandfather CLAYTON W. POOLE (1848-1908) of Salisbury, Rowan Co., NC. Clayton's mother was ANGELINE BULLEN/BOLIN/BULLARD of Rowan Co., NC; in the 1850 Rowan Census she was living with a BULLAND family and the census taker gave both ANGELINE and CLAYTON the surname of the host family (CATHERINE BULLAND), but this may be her mother CATY BULLEN. I originally couldn't find David L. Pool in the 1850 Rowan census. The Vincent papers gave this reference for David L. Pool on the 1850 Rowan census, on p. 138, 420.430, and a kind lady did a lookup for me. I don't know what the addition by the Asst.Marshall means.. Mary J. POOL is probably the widow of JOSEPH POOL who died Jan 9, 1849 (he married MARY J. HARDIE in Rowan Co., NC. I'm researching a John RHOADS (or Rhoades, Rhodes, etc) who was born in North Carolina about 1798. There were several men by that name in the state in the early 1800's and I'm trying to identify which is mine and who he married. My John Rhoads was married in North Carolina and had one child there before moving his family to Shelby County, Indiana. He's in the 1830 census in Indiana. By the time the 1850 census came and all family members were listed, John Rhoads' wife had passed away. She apparently died in the late 1840's based on the ages of the children. To find the wife's name, I examined a list of North Carolina marriages at Ancestry and came up with two marriages in Johnston County that involved a John Rhoads in the right timeframe. John Rhoads married Sarah Moore on 3 January 1813 (this may be a stretch if John was 15) and John Rhodes married Charlotte Brunt on 14 September 1814, both in Johnston County. I'd like to know if anyone is researching either of these couples and can tell me if either couple left North Carolina for Indiana. Any help is gratefully accepted. Dick Felts
Are there any Price researchers here? I would like to find out the parents of Gideon Price, born about 1800. On the 1850 census, District 3, Johnston Co, he is listed next to Zachariah Price, 94, and Mary, 97. I also know that a Zachariah Price left a will, dated 15 Feb 1823 and probated May 1838. On early censuses, there is never more than one Zachariah listed, but it seems obvious that there were two. Any help would be appreciated. Sue
Would love to talk to the family of Cora Hill Dunn who married Joseph G. Dunn of Duplin Co., they were married 1 Oct. 1883. She was the dau of Ananias and Emma Emily Ann Williams, she died between 1870-and 1876. He remarried Lizzie Brittain on Jan 16 1876 in Limestone Township, Duplin Co. I have not been able to find them after that, can anyone help. She had an Uncle William J. Hill who married Eliza J. (?), does anyone know if he served during the civil war. Thanks, Donna
Looking for info on William H. Hill born 1818 in Wayne Co NC, then next found him in Onslow Co in 1870 and 1880. I think ca. 1850-60 he moved to Duplin Co. and by 1870 he was in Onslow. His wife name was Eliza J. (maiden name unknown). His niece was living with him in 1880 her name was Laura A. Hill dau of Ananias Hill. She married Rouden W. Coats of Wayne County, his family still lives there, would love to get in touch with this family. Donna
