Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/gVB.2ACI/396.1494.1482 Message Board Post: Orice: I am actually not connected to this line (yet), but I saw in your posting that you were looking at John W. Brannan and his wife Lucinda. I was poking at the North Carolina state archives today, and I happened to copy down the Brannan/Brannon marriage bonds for Johnston County -- where I found John W. Brannan and Lucinda Batten, bond issued 9 December 1848. There's also a will for Abraham Batten (I don't have a copy, but I saw a reference), that mentioned his daughter Lucinda Brannan -- so I'm wondering if the maiden name Brown might actually be Batten. Just thought you might be interested -- if this is the same John W. Brannan. Hope this is a help in some way! Ryan

    2. Hi Bert, There were SEVERAL Jesse Lees around here! It seems the ones I have found have all been connected . There were Jesse Lees in Bladen, Johnston, Sampson & Cumberland Counties, NC. This is why it took me so long to connect to the right Jesse! These counties are all neighboring counties, and I live in Cumberland. I have seen branches of our line reported to have moved to GA, ALA, MS and beyond. A large group of settlers from these areas migrated together out of NC in the early 1800's to GA. I will pull my Lee files this evening and see what I have on the Bladen County Jesse. Thanks for your assistance! It seems that this is a different line of BULL. Ours is BULL instead of BULLS. The biggest challenge that I've encountered in over 25 years is attempting to filter all of the same-named families from each other. The big giveaway, of course, is that records such as Wills are witnessed by family members and neighbors/friends. The neighbors/friends portion is the usual separator of the families. Also, timelines differ a bit. Again, thank you for helping me to uncover a different path!
