    3. Does anyone have any other wills or deeds that would explain the relationships between any of these people to the HOLLOWELL family that they would be willing to share with me? I have much HOLLOWELL family information but have little in the Hyde/Beaufort area and would love to share what I have with anyone who has an interest in this family. vhhighfi@gte.net http://www.geocities.com/heartland/ridge/3462/

    1. [NCHYDE-L] (NCHYDE-L) Hollowell family
    2. Vikki Highfield
    3. I am researching the Hollowell family and there were ties to both Hyde and Beaufort counties. I would like to send some references to see if anyone can help me with this family and how they relate to other Hyde/Beaufort families. I will probably do this in several installments because it is rather long. The Hollowell family came from Norfolk Co., VA. The emmigrant ancestor was Thomas Hollowell who came to the colonies as a headright of Stephen Gill, prior to 1649. It is from his son Benjamin that the Hyde/Beaufort families descend. Benjamin Hollowell died in 1704 but his estate was not settled until 1715 when the youngest child was of age. Benjamin's wife was Eleanor Powell. BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL estate 15 Jul 1715. ROBERT STEWARD, WILLIAM WEBSTER debtors. WM. WEBSTER credit for his wife, ELLENER, her part. ROBERT STEWART credit for his wife, _____, her part. ALICE HOLLOWELL credit for her part. MARY HOLLOWELL credit for her part. BENJAMIN HOLLOWELL credit for his part. JOSEPH HOLLOWELL credit for his part. 1. Re: [NCHYDE-L] Roll Call
    2. Hi Friends and Cousins, A little background about myself... I grew up in Virginia Beach; have lived in Rome, NY; Charlottesville, VA; Garland, TX; and currently Toms River, NJ. However, I manage a gov't contract my company has in the Washington, DC, area, so I have been commuting down there almost every week for the last 3 and a half years. I've been doing genealogy research in my "spare" time for about 2 years. My main lines of research are Thomas Spencer of Chekencomick (Hyde Co. and surrounding area), Mathias Frick (Rowan Co.), Francis Jones (the South Creek Jones's of Beaufort Co.), and James Young (Charlottesville area, VA). As many of you know, the Spencer line has multiple connections to the Henry Gibbs line, the Matthew Midyett line, Credles, and others, so I often find myself following those lines at certain points. Other lines of recent research have involved my greatgrandmothers' families in NC: Shallington/Pender? (my greatgrandfather's [Samuel Green Spencer] first wife - still searching for her direct ancestors), Whitley (my greatgrandfather's second wife - the Arthur Whitley line), and Aldridge (the Drury Aldridge Sr. line). I do much of my research via the Internet, as made possible by so many volunteers who have been uploading documents to the various county genweb pages; visits to the research library of the National Genealogical Society in Arlington, VA; and my rare trip down to NC (recently to New Bern and to Washington). Please feel free to contact me to explore any areas of mutual family connections. Good luck in your own research! Regards, Jim Spencer jspencer@notes.cc.bellcore.com
