    2. Karen Swindell Wilson
    3. I'm looking at a copy of the Hyde County 1850 census record for David and Pembrook (Jennette) Gibbs. Living with them was Mary Swindell (age 61). She was old enough to be the mother of one of these two. Does anyone know if these two are related to the Swindell family in any way? Thanks! --Karen Swindell Wilson

    1. [NCHYDE] New unknown photos
    2. Kay M. Sheppard
    3. Folks, I have posted 25 unknown photos in the last several days. These were all found in the Hyde County History book which was published in 1976. If any of you have a clue to the identity of any of these people please let me know. Well, the year 2000 has come and is nearly gone. It's hard for me to believe that this year has gone by so fast and the older I get the faster they fly! Hopefully John and I and our many contributors have pleased you with the new additions made to the web page during this past year and have helped some of you on the road to the discovery of your ancestors. I think we have one of the most informative web sites on the Internet today but we would always welcome any new ideas for more additions to make it even better in the coming year. I would like to take this opportunity to tell each one of you that I have enjoyed being a part of this web page and wish for each one of you a prosperous and healthy 2001. Kay Lynn

    3. I'm researching my ancestor daniel Haston and, thanks to a clue from Ellen Williams, I'm checking on the spelling: Haslin. But I found a Huston family in the Hyde Co gen pages in the 1790's. Does anyone have any info on this family? I have found Daniel and Oliver Haston - Hastin - Haslin - Huston - Hastings, spelled many ways. A cousin said that he was mustered out of the army (Rev War) in fairfield NC. "Edward Spencer records his Mark A Swallow fork in the Right Ear and and [sic] a Crap [crop?] and Under keel in the left ear." 3. I've been wondering the same thing Jim as I had the History book out today and noticed that the photos didn't have any captions under them. I'll see if it will be OK for me to scan some or all of them and put them online so maybe someone that accesses the web page will recognize them and give them a name. I haven't a clue who any of them are. Kay Lynn > I have a copy of the "Hyde County History" book published by the historical > society in 1976. Of the 18 deeds, only four are included in Patrick Garrow's "The Mattamuskeet Documents." I have set up a page on which I have included these Currituck Co. deeds at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~nchyde/CURRDEED.HTM I have linked this page with the deed spages on the Mattamuskeet Documents pages. Anyone having any information on the Machapunga / Mattamuskeet (Arromuskeet) Indians, please let me know. John
