The Brinns were in Hyde well back into the 1700s --Merlin Berry BRINN, James S. , son of Sanford Brinn and Elizabeth Langley = Pearl Jennette, dau of GeorgeW. and Lyda Jennette of Currituck Township 1. Burl S. Brinn = Dora Leona Saunders 1919-1971 1930-1965 Born Willis Branch, WVA Died Montgomery, WVA Burl became a minister 2. Pearl was Maurice's (my brother) age; born then 1927/28 and:? 3. Margaret and 4. Ruby? And other children? Mr. Jim Brinn operated a little store right beyond the turn of the Job's Corner road onto the Credle Road, on the right just before the house Mr. and Mrs. Emmet Cahoon lived in during the 1950s Mr. Jim was blind, and as a child I wondered how he could run a store. But, I do remember going in one day, and seeing him take money and give change back to someone. ======= In a message dated 1/5/2002 3:48:55 PM Eastern Standard Time, ToddRuth@aol.com writes: > Subj: Roll Call: Brinn, Jeannette, Jones and Liverman > Date: 1/5/2002 3:48:55 PM Eastern Standard Time > From: ToddRuth@aol.com > To: NCHYDE-L@rootsweb.com > > > > > Hello All! > > I am brand new at doing this. Hello All! I am brand new at doing this. I have entertained the idea for quite a while, and finally find myself ready to start. Here are the names I'll be researching: James Brinn married Pearl(Jeanette)Brinn (late 1800's?) as far as I know they both were from Swan Quarter, if not originally from SQ, they at least lived there most of their life. Walter Jones married a Liverman (not sure of her first name) they would have been married in late 1800's as well. They lived in Beaufort County as far as know. The wife Liverman had a sister named Livy (Olivia) and maybe a sister named Betsy. Any help or direction of where to look any of you could give me will be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Ruth (Jones) Headen

My only (so far as I now know) Hyde County family is Allen. My oldest known ancestor is William Isaiah Allen, born 1834 in either Hyde or Beaufort County. He was wed to Mary E. (last name unknown, but possibly Sattswatt). At some point, the family ended up in Beaufort County, courtesy of a county line change rather than by moving. The family stayed in Beaufort until the 1870's or 1880, when they moved into Hyde County again. They are on the 1880 Federal Census for Hyde County in 1880 and the marriage licenses for their oldest son list him as being from Hyde County. It is believed that William Isaiah Allen is the son of William Allen, born 1799 in Hyde County, and Sarah E. Allen. She died prior to 1842 which was the year that William married Winnifred Davis in Beaufort County. William's children with his first wife are: Elizabeth Ellen William Isaiah (he used both names interchangeably) George William's children with Winnifred are: David Mary E. Sarah Pug (don't know his real name) Rebecca Frances Albin Martha Cathy Roberts
My family names from Hyde are: Litchfield McWilliams Watson Gibbs Bartee Satterthwaite Harvey Would really like to know more about the McWilliams and Litchfield families. Ann McWilliams Cayton

My sur-names interest is Rascoe, Adams, Swindell. Especially those prior to 1800. William Rascoe died in early 1790's possible before. Was suppose to have been married to Rachel Adams. He was probably a son of Daniel Rasco Sr. John Rascoe probable son of Willam and Rachel Rascoe, allegedly married Mary Swindell. They left Hyde County between 1810 and 1815 and moved to Orange County N.C. Many descendants were in Caswell and surrounding counties in N.C. and a son John moved to White County Tennessee about 1823. Christopher Swindell suppose to have been a maternal cousin of John Rasco, Jr. Moved to Tyrrell County, then to Caswell County, and then to White County Tennessee. Interested in all Rascoe families. James R. Rasco
