Hello all, I am looking for info. on JEREMIAH RAWLS who was a resident of NANSEMOND county, VIRGINIA. He died circa 1822 per the land tax of NANSEMOND county, VIRGINIA. JEREMIAH owned 312 acres which seems to be for his service in the war of 1812. this land was changed to the JEREMEHIAH RAWLS {estate} on the 1822 tax list, 150 ACRES and 47 acres were added in 1821, with the 150 acres dropped from the 1822 list. then in 1827 it was changed to MARGARET RAWLS from JEREMIAH RAWLS ESTATE. In 1837 the 312 acres was changed to ALBERT K. RAWLS and the 47 acres was was changed to J. O'BERRY. ALBERT K. RAWLS was ALBERT KELLY RAWLS son of WILLIS RAWLS & ANN KELLY, This WILLIS RAWLS was a son of JOHN RAWLS. It is without a doubt that JOHN RAWLS that died about 1755 was the father of JOHN & DAVID RAWLS, they took over his land with JOHN RAWLS getting 500 acres and DAVID getting 650 acres. DAVID RAWLS died before 1782 when his widow ELIZABETH took over and when she died about 1788-1789 JOHN RAWLS took over the 650 acres. in 1793 JOHN RAWLS transferred 150 acres to NATHANIEL RAWLS {son of DAVID}, This NATHANIEL died about 1804, and also in 1793 JOHN RAWLS transferred to JAMES RAWLS of DAVID 190 acres. in 1794 JOHN RAWLS transferred another 300 acres, this time to JEREMIAH RAWLS, the one that died about 1822. this was to my thoughts also the son of DAVID. Meanwhile in HERTFORD county, NORTH CAROLINA just across the border from NANSEMOND co., VIRGINIA in 1827 several women and their husbands were involved in the estate settlement of a JEREMIAH RAWLS there, it seems to be the same JEREMIAH from NANSEMOND county. the ones involved in that record were MATHIAS BAKER who had married MARY RAWLS who had died before JEREMIAH and her sister REBECCA RAWLS who MATHIAS BAKER married after the death of MARY {He married sisters) the other women were CATHERINE RAWLS, LUCINDY RAWLS who married JOHN BIRD, CATHERINE RAWLS who married ELISHA H. JERNAGAN & ELIZABETH RAWLS who married DEMPSEY NOWELL and moved to HAYWOOD county, TENNESSEE. These families the girls married were common to NANSEMOND common to NANSEMOND county, VIRGINIA. EMILY NOWELL daughter of ELIZABETH RAWLS and DEMPSEY NOWELL married JOSEPH W. RAWLS in HAYWOOD county, TENNESSEE. JEREMIAH RAWLS was on the 1820 census of NANSEMOND county, VIRGINIA with 1 male 10-16, 1 male 16-18, 1 male 16-26, 1 male 45 up, 1 female 10-16 and 1 female 26-45. a DEMSEY NOWELL was listed two names down with 1 male 16-26 in his household {living alone} the questions are. was JEREMIAH RAWLS of NANSEMOND county, VIRGINIA the son of JOHN RAWLS or DAVID RAWLS. I think without a doubt it was DAVID as JOHN RAWLS was put in charge of his brothers land {DAVID RAWLS}, and did not transfer any of his land until after his death. Second, was the JEREMIAH RAWLS of HERTFORD county, the same one from NANSEMOND County? I think so. third, was MARGARET RAWLS his second wife? if so why did she leave her land to ALBERT K. RAWLS who was not her son or the son of JEREMIAH. Or were there TWO ALBERT K. RAWLS? one her son the other the son of WILLIS? The court record in HERTFORD county was in 1827 which is the year the NANSEMOND tax list was changed to MARGARET RAWLS from the JEREMIAH RAWLS estate. It appears that JEREMIAH RAWLS had married twice and MARGARET was his second wife, but this is speculation. does anyone know about JEREMIAH RAWLS or the names involved with him? when ABRAM RAWLS died about 1799 JEREMIAH RAWLS was involved in his estate, was ABRAM RAWLS a brother to JEREMIAH? THANKS in advance. BOBBY RAWLS BIG SPRING, TEXAS
