TWIMC My cousin,Neal Brown(AK) and I have been researching this line for some time with some results but with major brick walls. I have been to Winton,Hertford Co. CH &Library;To Jackson,Northhampton Co. CH & Library;to Raleigh,NC CH and History Ctr. Neal Brown has done personal research via the net,LDS,etc. and hired a professional to research this line in NC/VA?. Our line seems to start in Hertford Co. mid 1700's or earlier. The basic names start w/ Benjamin,Lewis. Our known line is Lewis,spouse of Jemima(?) and father of Wilson,1st spouse unknown but four possibly five issues;Betsy,Martha,William Neuborne(sic),Calvin.Wilson's 1st wife unknown but app died prior to 1820 at which time Wilson went to TN possibly w/ the Bone? family. Wilson known to be in Gibson Co,TN 1828. Married Ruth Permelle Shelton in TN and 5 issues. Back to Hertford Co.-Lewis aaand Jemima(?) had property and slaves;he was involved w/ local government and obtained property in TN and IL,possibly thru military grants. One sister,Martha thought to have married and stayed in Hertford Co. On e problem-this family entered erroneously into LDS records in Giles Co.,TN -a real throw-off. There is alot of other data in this research but know proving Jemima's maiden name;did they come from VA or where?;who was Wilson's first wife; Death/burial info on Lewis/Jemima. There app to be a Jemima in a later census(1830?) as Head of Household. It does not app that Lewis and Jemima left the NC area permanently.
