    1. [NCHERTFO-L] Mother's Day & Memorial Day
    2. Marianne Ordway
    3. We've had some great ideas passed on to us from some other County List's. Mother's Day is May 11th, Armed Forces Day is May 17th, and Memorial Day will be celebrated on May 26th this year. Why not take these opportunities to visit the cemeteries where your loved ones and ancestors are buried and let others know who they were and where they are interned? If you take flowers or make other memorial tributes in their honor take some photographs as share those too. If possible while paying your respects, write down some of the other names and inscriptions of the people who are in close proximity, and the name of the cemetery. This would also be an excellent month to go through your files and gather all of your "genealogy" brick-wall ancestors and list them by name, date, location - with soldiers you may want to include other info such as branch of service, rank, duty if known and let others know that your looking for those people it can be surprising to learn that someone else who is researching has just the information that you need to shed light on that ancestor and answer some long standing questions for both of you. Already this week we've had about 10 new Hertford County cemeteries added to the Archives - which is amazing and due entirely to a couple of people rooting around in their old notes! Some of these haven't been posted as yet but will probably be available in the Hertford County Archives later today.
