Linda, My ancestor is close to what you are discussing. Lewis Ezell was born in Hertford in 1780, the son of Benjamin and Ann Ezell. He is on the 1810 census in Hertford, but we have not located him on the 1820. Some time shortly after 1820 Lewis and his wife Nancy Rogers were in Lauderdale Co., Ala. I recently tried to locate any others in Lauderdale who may have been from Hertford. I only came up with one family...that of Christopher Cheatham who must have migrated about the same time as Lewis Ezell. I have no proof that Lewis Ezell came through Tenn. but that is certainly a possibility as Lauderdale is just across the state line. Sandy
