Dear Friends, I am trying to locate information on Mabel (Mabell) Askew who was listed as a widow in the 1790 Hertford Co., NC census. She was the mother of Dr. Lemuel B. Askew of Union Co., SC. Some evidence indicates that her maiden name was Brickell or that her daughter married a Brickell. In the 1790 census, Mathew Brickell and William Brickell live in the households on either side of her. A final clue is that there may be a connection to the Denton family. I would like to know the name of her husband, and what relation, if any, she is to the Brickell family. If anyone can help me figure out this difficult puzzle, I would be most appreciative.
