    3. Stacee, I don't know if you have visited "Sally's Family Place," at www2.txcyber.com/~smkoestl/, but she has quite a bit of information on a Cotten family of Hertford Co. Don't know if your line is there, but it could be of some help. >>> <SMcca14689@aol.com> 05/08/01 06:51PM >>> It's been a long time since I've posted, so I'll try one line of my family to get started. I'm looking for information on Phebe Weaver & John Cotton. They married sometime prior to 1832, about the time their first son was born. Their children: Joseph, William J. (born in NC)., Martha, Sarah, Henry, Wiley W., Catherine, Nancy Ann, & Wright. William went to Michigan. Martha and Nancy married brothers, John and Reuben Robbins, respectively and moved to MI. Wiley was in MI for a time, but died in Dayton, OH. Catherine and Wright remained in the Randolph County area. Phebe & John moved to Randolph County, Indiana between 1833 and 1836. There were several Weavers in that area of Indiana. I'm assuming many family members migrated around the same time. I'm not sure if any other Cottons moved there at the same time they did. John Cotton was listed in the 1820 census as free person of color. Phebe Weaver's father was Jesse Weaver. She is listed in his will. The will lists her sisters, Fanny & Nancy Cotton (I'm wondering if they married brother's from the same Cotton family). Brothers listed were William and Jesse. I would appreciate any information on Phebe & John. I'd like to find out if any of their families remained in Hertford County. Thanks for any help you can give me.
