Hello all, I am new to the list, and wondering if anyone knows of a transcription of the Bethel Church Cemetery of Hertford. Specifically, I am looking for details of Fleetwoods and Standins (Standing/Standen) who I understand are buried there. Otherwise, are any of you "locals" who pass near the church and would be willing to take a look? Thank you, Kerry Smith
Hi, I'm wondering if anyone can tell me where the Edington district of Hertford Co. is and what towns it is made up of? Susan in MA
Hi Susan, I looked at my map of Hertford County that I got last fall from the county courthouse. It doesn't have districts, but it does have all of the roads and waterways and towns and even some cemetery locations (not all of them, like where my great-grandmother is buried is not marked on the map, and also no names of the cemeteries, unfortunately), in case you need that. So I'm sorry I can't help you with Edington District. Let me know if you need something else and I'll do my best. -Susan At 15:09 06/07/01 -0400, you wrote: >Hi, >I'm wondering if anyone can tell me where the Edington district of Hertford >Co. is and what towns it is made up of? >Susan in MA
Susan, Perhaps you are alluding to the Edenton District which in 1780 consisted of 9 counties, one of which was Hertford. There is also a town of Hertford in Chowan County, a few miles east of Edenton which is also in that district. Take care.
