    1. [NCHERTFO-L] cemetery inventories.
    2. Ken Christison
    3. My apologies for the cross posting, but I thought you would all be interested in my latest little project on the web. I have inventoried 3 small cemeteries in the Ashley's Grove community and have put them up on a webpage. The fun part is that I carried the digital camera and took a picture of each stone and linked each picture from it's respective spot on the page. The cemeteries I did were the old Ashley's Grove Church cemetery, behind the church, a small Vann cemetery up the road from the church and a small Johnson cemetery south of the church. If this is practical and useful, maybe this will spur some more folks to do the same. Don't expect professional images, but most of the inscriptions are legible. They are mostly fairly low resolution to load faster. If interested, just go to: http://homepages.go.com/homepages/c/h/r/christisonk/vann/cemetery.htm http://homepages.go.com/homepages/c/h/r/christisonk/ashleysgrove/cemetery.htm http://homepages.go.com/homepages/c/h/r/christisonk/johnson/cemetery.htm Since I haven't seen this done in this manner, I would appreciate some feedback on ways to make it more effective. Thanks for your time. Ken Christison Conway, NC christison@coastalnet.com http://www2.coastalnet.com/~s7f7s3gt/index.html

    2. Susan O'Sullivan
    3. Hi, Im really hoping someone can help me. I live in MA but am researching my grandfather's family in NC. So far, I have run into dead ends with every turn I've taken with this branch of the family :( I am looking for any info at all on J.B. (no first or middle) Evans who was born in 1829 in Hertford Co. (I believe). The only other info that I have on him is that his wife's name was Elizabeth and she was born in 1830. They had a son, Joseph Henry Evans b orn in June 1857 Hertford Co who was my great grandfather. I have been told that a lot of records for Hertford County were burned in the Civil War. Does anyone know if this is true? THanks for any help at all! Susan

    1. [NCHERTFO-L] Marriage Bonds
    2. -- I have created a web page for Marriage Bond Index of NC 1741-1868 <A HREF="http://marriagebondofnc.homestead.com/Home.html">marriagebondofNC </A> http://marriagebondofnc.homestead.com/Home.html This page is not complete and will not be complete for several months. There are over 8,000 Bride and 8,000 Groom microfilm pages that list all marriage bonds for all counties of NC. I will add new surnames weekly so please don't get discouraged if you do not see the surname you are looking for. I have discovered that once you obtain the Index page that you are looking for it is easier to contact the NC Archives and get a copy of the original Marriage Bond. If you would like a specific Surname added to the page you may send me an e-mail and I will put that name on my list to add ASAP. All I ask is that you send one e-mail per Surname. You may send as many Surnames as you like, but please do so separately so that I may easily alphabetize my list that I take with me. In the Subject area put MB of NC (this will get my attention) In the body of the e-mail type the surname you would like added in ALL CAPS. Best of Luck to you all in your search for your ancestors. J. Altenhoff
