OPD = Old Pendleton District of SC, which was located in the area of the modern counties of Oconee, Pickens, and Anderson. See map showing its proximity to Henderson Co. NC: http://jrshelby.com/opdcd/opd.jpg This was on the migration route and it is common to find the ancestors to the north and descendents to the south. The OPD database is a project of the Old Pendleton District Chapter of the SC Genealogical Society, which is available by download or cd and contains some 300,000 interconnected names. Text files of the surnames and locations included can be downloaded in zipped form at http://jrshelby.com/opdcd/ Links are found there for the OPDC/SCGS, gedcom download, cd, etc. The OPD list is SC-OLD-PENDLETON-DIST-L John Robertson
