    1. BROWNING , LOCKABY, NELSON Families ca.1863
    2. Nell Jane NELSON mar. a BROWNING (or maybe a LOCKABY) and was living near E. Flat Rock ca,1863. They had twin daughters, one named Lucinda ("Lou") and the other, I believe Essie. The husband either deserted or refused to serve in the CSA. The family tradition says that the family was "dirt poor" and Nellie had no one to care for her and the new borns. Family tradition goes on to say that a bounty was put on the husbands head. One day, when Nellie took food to the woods where her husband was hiding, a neighbor named Donaldson followed her and fatally shot the husband. Nellie went on to remarry a JEWELL and then lived in Anderson Co., GA. I have never been able to ID who is my ggrandfather. Can anyone suggest ways for me to search for him? Bounty Lists? Local newspapers of the time? Thanks for your help. Perry McCrary Pmcc123@aol.com
