Lieutenant Case was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis B. Case and lived all of his life in the Judson community. He attended Judson Grammar School and Parker High School, Greenville, South Carolina. Lieutenant Case was a member of Judson Methodist Church, Greenville, South Carolina. (His father, Lewis Burgan Case, Sr., was born in Hendersonville, North Carolina. His mother, Roxie Anne Hollingsworth Case was born in Greenville, Greenville County, South Carolina). On August 8, 1936 he entered the Army and served with the Anti-tank Corps at Panama, drill battalion at Treasure Island, Calif. He entered Officer Candidate school at Fort Benning, Ga., and was an instructor of ski troops at Denver, Colo. In August, 1943, he went to Italy and was with the 4th Ranger Battalion at the time of his death January 30, 1944. He was 25 years of age.
