Hello Henderson County: URGENT REQUEST!: Now that we are over the holidays, This years is our 350th Anniversary of the landing of the Swartwout family in North America. The name has many variations such as Swarthout, Swartout, Swartwood, Swathwood, Swarthwood etc. We need help in gather lines, pictures, articles, wills, what ever you have stashed in your attic. We would really appreciated it if you shared with us what you had, there a literally thousands of us here looking for our roots, looking for connections. For our 350th Anniversary we need to updated our list of folks out there that are descendants somewhere along the line of any of those variations. We also have a family newsletter that cost only $5.00 per year, a real bargain. Just send it your mailing address. Every day I get e-mail asking me for help. Up here in Canada, there were two brothers that had huge families, all the remains of their descendants are the female sides. All the male went back to the States. I'm am the maintainer of "The Updated Swartwout Chronicles" People submit their lines-ged-coms etc. and I just drop them into the data base. It is everyone's database. Each person is responsible for their own submissions. It is not copyrighted. Kathy kathyhoeldke@sympatico.ca ldyk@hotmail.ca

The planned release of the cd version of the Old Pendleton District database cd originally planned for 15 September has been delayed to 15 October. It will contain the version of the database updated 1 October rather than that of 1 September as previously announced. Old Pendleton District SC was the 3 westernmost counties of SC which is bordered by counties in NC and GA in addition to those of SC. It contains 318,000 names and 107,000 marriages in single gedcom/database. Most states and several foreign countries are represented in the data for residents of OPD, their ancestors, and their descendants. This cd is offered approximately quarterly by the Old Pendleton District Chapter of the SCGS. http://oldpendleton.homestead.com/index.html Most questions about the cd are answered here http://jrshelby.com/opdcd/
Is anyone researching the surnames of Craig or Ingle?
Dennis: Saw your note. In my own line, I have T. Monroe Deaver, 1879-1979, who married Lena Smith around 1920 in Hendersonville. I have nothing more on T. Monroe. FYI, I am related to the other Dennis Smith living in Hendersonville. Pat Patrick Stover Cummins Fairfax, VA Researching Cummins, Hamilton, Smith, Kraft, Lewallen, Stover

Hi Listers I am researching on behalf of my wife. She had two uncles who emigrated to the USA early in the 20th century. I have found one on the Ellis Island site. I also found this one and the other brother on the SSDI. Both of these Uncles were married twice. In both instances their first wives were from England. This is the one relevant to Henderson North Carolina Arthur BRAZIER ( Social Security No 061-07-6187) born 27 May 1891 married Anna SILKAKTIN b 24 September 1895 (although from England she was believed to be born in Russia) They settled in North Carolina after a spell in Long Island New York. When his wife Anna Brazier ( Social Security No 241-06-2958) died in NC at the Marg.R. Hospital 17 September 1973 he then married a Mattie (maiden name not known) and Mattie was believed to have come from Florida. Arthur address in 1973 was 700 Sylvan Boulevard Hendersonville Are there records available to search for the second married after 1973? I really need an American friend at this moment to guide me through whatever I need to do to find out if these records are available for public viewing in NC. Are their researchers or volunteers who would look the marriage up for me Any help would be a liferaft to cling to Thanks for your time in reading this call for help Alan in New Zealand

What a great list! I got quite a few answers concerning the address and directions to Mt. Moriah Cemetery, including the actual listings from the Henderson County cemetery book. Thanks so much to everyone who answered, I tried to answer everyone individually, but just wanted to say again, what a great list! Thanks, Sharon Foree S_Foree@Prodigy.net
On death certificate for James Q. Y. Lyda it says he is buried in Mt. Moriah Cemetery in 1953. I have tried to find an address for the cemetery using on-line yellow pages and white pages. No results. Did the name of the cemetery change? I'm not sure if it was in Edneyville or Hendersonville. Can someone give me a current address? Thanks so much. Sharon Foree S_Foree@Prodigy.net
