    3. Becky: Thank you for your response and suggestion. I have researched Northampton County and all the Warrens there. I still haven't been able to link my John Robert Warren alias Jack Warren. I really appreciate your suggestion and your willingness to take the time to write. John was a student in Halifax Co. school district 14 in 1843 when he was about 7. In 1847, he was a student in the same school district (age about 11). In the 1850 census, he was living with Tempy Drew, age 16. In the 1860 census, he was an overseer for Turner Bass. He enlisted in the Scotland Neck Mounted Rifles in 1861. I know much more but will leave it at that. One of my theories is whoever his father was died and his mother remarried a Drew. Or Tempy was a relative or a good neighbor who took him in when his parents died. Whatever the truth, he spent most of his early life in the Scotland Neck area. We know from family records he was born in Halifax county. Again, thanks for your response. An independent suggestion is often the key.
