My RAWLS family went to NORTHAMPTON county, NORTH CAROLINA from NANSEMOND county, VIRGINIA. FISHING CREEK is mentioned in HALIFAX records as well. I have a map somewhere that shows FISHING CREEK in that time period and has been very helpful in placing my family. Of course RIVERS and CREEKS are some of the most helpful tools in genealogy in regards to placing land. Most people when they had a choice chose waterways to settle for not only water, but travel as well. Checking out the neighbors on all records your family was on is critical in finding more of your own family. And the neighbors deeds and wills often help in finding the location or dates of sale for our own family as well. FISHING CREEK seems an important location for many families. thanks.
