I missed the first post of this, sorry if I'm asking something that was already stated. Is the William Porter named here the one that was married to Mary Sullivan, daughter of William SULLIVAN and Patsy ? BRANTLEY? If so, I am really interested in finding out more, especially about the BENTON fellow mentioned. I have been struggling with that name since I started doing research on Jeremiah SULLIVAN. According to the estate documents, a man named Jessie BENTON had inherited land from Jeremiah. I have found no connections to the BENTONS and the SULLIVANs. Does anyone know any more about these Bentons in Halifax. And again, is this William PORTER who married Mary SULLIVAN?
