This is a rerun of my James family that lived just barely over the line in Southampton County, VA. Family information has it that their land(near Branchville)was James land before Southampton County was formed from Isle of Wight County in 1746. However, the earliest I have been able to get information is just after 1800. James James(birth/death date and places unk)married in 1838 in Souithampton Cnty to Sarah Harrison b 1821 VA dau of Catherine Harrison b 1800. However, James James had a brother Mark who was born in 1812.James James seems to have disappeared before 1850.The censuses list three children born to James & Sarah between 1840-46: Nathaniel T., Benjamin Allen(listed in the census as "Allen B.")and Joshua Cummins. Sarah was living in her mother's household in the 1850 census as if they both were widows(Catherine was a widow before 1838).Sarah's younger Harrison siblings(born between 1823 and 1838)were: Allen J.,Hannah A., Andrew J., Elizabeth H.& Benson F.The Jameses, Harrisons and the Turner family there in Southampton Cnty, VA married back and forth until it's difficult to tell exactly how everyone was kin.If anyone has an interest in the JAMES, TURNER or HARRISON names, I would be interested in hearing from them.
