Looking for an Anderson Shields who was probably born in NC @ 1800 m Barbara(or Barbery) Hill (Hall ?), and was living in Pittsylvania Co., Va. at the time of the 1860 census. Apparently he was in Halifax N.C. at the time of the 1870 census. I have children as George Thomas, John H., William H., Sally P., Nancy, and Abner T. The story goes that John H. was coming home from the Civil War and cut across the Haley farm and asked for a glass of water and met his future wife. Abner also married a Haley. George married Ellen Towler of Pittsylvania Co.; they were my gg-grandparents. It seems like most of Anderson's children stayed in Va. I am trying to figure out if this is, in fact, the same Anderson (NC>Va>NC), a birth place for him, death time and place, and more about his family. Also, maybe Barbara Hill/Hall was born in NC also. I have her mother as Ann Hall as per death certificate and as Ann Hill on some other papers. Barbara was born @ 1822 and died @ 1862. Thank you in advance for any help you can give me, Sherry
