    1. [NCHALIFA] 1700'S land platting
    2. Dear fellow Halifax researchers, I am working on my Carpenter line. Just to update, I believe that I have proven by a preponderence of evidence that the Mary Carpenter listed as a daughter of William Reeves (Sr) in his 1751 will in Granville was married to William Carpenter, Sr. It has to do with the land transactions of James Reeves (Mary's brother), John Eelbank, John and Joseph Montfort, and William Carpenter (Sr). However, to establish this I am platting out the early deeds with much difficulty as I do not have access to the original warrant/grant in the archives since I live in Dallas. I plan to go to Raleigh in September, but I am hoping someone on this mailing list can help me. 1. Does anyone know of a plat map covering Edgecombe 1733 to the creation of Halifax County of 1759 then to about 1790? 2. Could someone go to the archives and look up about 4 or five plat envelopes. They are really neat as some have the original map drawn by the surveyor! 3. Does anyone on their own have a plat map drawn out for the little Quankey and Great Quankey Creeks? I am more than willing to pay for costs and as far as the archive a look up fee. Some of the names around the Carpenter at this time were Reeves, Hicks, Whitmel, Woods, McCulloch, Eelbank, Montfort, Powell. Thanks Louis Carpenter
