    2. Good evening Dick, I have found two references to a Caudle/Hudson relationship: 1) Nancy HUDSON married Joseph CAUBLE 19 April 1819 Cabarrus Co -Tobias BROWN dau of Charles & Rebecca HUDSON of Rowan Co. (I don't know what the reference to Tobias Brown means - probably bondsman or minister) 2) Wiley E HUDSON m Cintha D CAUDLE, 16 Aug 1852 Surry Co NC - Benjamin McROBE (I don't know what the reference to Benjamin McRobe means - probably bondsman or minister). This is from HUDSON MARRIAGES in NORTH CAROLINA Compiled by William A Shull Jr. and published for Hudson Family Association, copyright 1984 by HFA. Bea

    3. Hi, About all I can say right now is that I am aware of a Wiley Caudle - not Hudson - you solved one question for me. Yes, I believe that there was and is a definite connection between the Caudle's of Surry and those of Halifax Co. I have not done much research in Halifax Co. NC but do plan now on doing some shortly. I will keep the Hudson name in mind. From what County in Va. did the Hudson families come to Hlifax ? 3. Hi list, I haven't written much. I have a question to ask and I guess a favor. Where is the county seat for Halifax Co.? I need a couple of wills copied from Halifax Co. I found them in the book NC Wills: A Testator Index 1665 - 1900. If someone can tell me how I might get copies, and the cost I would appreciate it. I am looking for my 4th great grandfather and I have an idea that I might be close. Philip Adams, Sr. was born in Halifax Co. but moved on to Wake Co. but we have no clue to his father but hoping to find him in one of these wills. Thanks. Brenda Adams Rhodes

    1. Re: [NCHALIFA] Adams
    2. Brenda, I have always believed that the Adams were related to the Carpenters as my ancestor Isaac, b. 1764 (Halifax) d. 1837 lived on Quankey Creek. The Adams were neighbors. In addition, Isaac and his family moved to Wake County c. 1796. Do you have any info on ties between the two fami.ies? Louis Carpenter

Do you know of any connection between the Caudles and Hudsons in Halifax Co? TIA Bea

    2. Lee Totty
    3. Hi I am researching the Francis TOTTY family found in Halifax county from 1795 until he died in 1808. His Wit: to WILL were John PEPPER, Joseph WINTER and Hampton POWELL. He had a son named William TOTTY with wife name Lucy. Does anyone know if this Lucy was Lucy Powell, sister of Hampton Powell and daughter of Lucy _______ Powell? or what the maiden name of Lucy ______ TOTTY was? Francis TOTTY also had a daughter Priscilla TOTTY who died there in 1816 and mentions her nephew Francis Johnston, who was her Executor, she also left property to Martha F. Johnston and Miles Johnston. Wit: to her Will were John HOCKODAY and Lewis WILLIS. Does anyone have any information on this Johnston/Johnson family? I descend from Robert TOTTY, s/o Francis TOTTY. Thanks in advance for any help. Lee TOTTY ________________________________________________________________ YOU'RE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR THE INTERNET! Juno now offers FREE Internet Access! 3. Absalom Caudle was, according to his Pension, born 1757 in Halifax Co. I believe his younger brother Stephen, born in 1761, was also born there. Many searchers have been looking for proof of this, as I have, for over 12 years. Some researchers say the father's name was Benjamin but this can not be verified. Can anyon out there help on this. ? 1. [NCHALIFA] John H Currie/Samantha Ann Smith family
    2. Frances Cullom Harper
    3. Is anyone researching the John H Currie family who lived in Halifax Co? John worked for the state farm at Enfield. Wife Samantha Ann Smith, children Charles Currie, William Thomas Currie, and Nora Currie (m John W Porter from Duplin Co). I have two old letters written by Samantha in late 1900/early 1901 concerning her own family and her ancestry. At the time, Samantha was an old lady living with her daughter in Mooshannee in Moore Co, but John was still working in Halifax. Transcripts and scans of the original letters are on my webpage at http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Plains/8008/samantha.htm Samantha was the daughter of Alexander Smith and Charity Woodward of Wake Co. After her parents died, she was raised in the home of Thomas Pollock Devereaux and moved with his family from Raleigh to Halifax Co. I would very much like to establish contact with descendants.
