    1. [NCHALIFA] Weaver Family, Late 1700's - 1800, Halifax Co. NC
    2. C. Edwin Murray
    3. Seeking information about a Craven Weaver who was married to an Elizabeth Winneford ????? or a Winneford Elizabeth ?????. Craven is listed in the 1800 U.S. Census for Halifax Co. with a wife and a child under 5 years of age. I am searching for the maiden name of his wife and for the names of his parents and siblings. My hypothesis is that he was the son of a James Weaver who was living in Halifax Co. during this time period, but I cannot prove it at this time. Any help would be greatly appreciated. 1. [NCHALIFA] Harvey - Hamlett
    2. John and Carolyn Haisty
    3. Patti, Janis and others: I have watched your posts in reference to Harvey/Hervey and now Hamlett. Perhaps some of you can help me find the right parents for my great grandparents. Jesse Sherwood Harvey was born in Halifax Co., NC April 25, 1828. Mary Ann Hamlett was born September 9, 1833 in Halifax Co., NC. They were married on August 5, 1855 in Hickory Valley, Hardeman Co., TN, where both families had settled. We cannot find the parents of Jesse Sherwood Harvey. It is possible that he was a son of William Hervey mentioned by Patti. The parents of Mary Ann Hamlett were William Hamlett and Frances Harvey (or Harriss). In the 1850 Census of Hardeman Co., TN, Jesse Sherwood is shown as "Showood" Harvey in the household of Whitmell New. Any family ties there? Then after he and Mary Ann were married he shows up in the 1860 census of Shelby Co., TN, in the household of a Jamerson/Jamison, where he was overseer of a large plantation. Nearby were families named Harriss. This suggests that Mary Ann Hamlett's mother may have been a Harriss and that they and the Jamerson and Brooks families also nearby were related. Brooks is a name handed down in the family. Any help or suggestions will be most welcome. Carolyn Haisty jhaisty@tcac.com

    1. [NCHALIFA] Anderson Shields b. @1800
    2. Looking for an Anderson Shields who was probably born in NC @ 1800 m Barbara(or Barbery) Hill (Hall ?), and was living in Pittsylvania Co., Va. at the time of the 1860 census. Apparently he was in Halifax N.C. at the time of the 1870 census. I have children as George Thomas, John H., William H., Sally P., Nancy, and Abner T. The story goes that John H. was coming home from the Civil War and cut across the Haley farm and asked for a glass of water and met his future wife. Abner also married a Haley. George married Ellen Towler of Pittsylvania Co.; they were my gg-grandparents. It seems like most of Anderson's children stayed in Va. I am trying to figure out if this is, in fact, the same Anderson (NC>Va>NC), a birth place for him, death time and place, and more about his family. Also, maybe Barbara Hill/Hall was born in NC also. I have her mother as Ann Hall as per death certificate and as Ann Hill on some other papers. Barbara was born @ 1822 and died @ 1862. Thank you in advance for any help you can give me, Sherry
