    1. [NCHALIFA] ALLSBROOK/ALSOBROOK/CURRY
    2. I am looking for information on the ancestors of Nancy Curry, who married Hartwell Allsbrook (Alsobrook.) Nancy and Hartwell lived south of Scotland Neck, toward the Edgecombe county line. The 1850 census of Halifax County shows John Alsobrook (possibly Hartwell's brother), Sally Curry (Nancy's sister) and Sally (probably Nancy's mother), living with them south of Scotland Neck. The Halifax County marriage bonds list Hartwell Alsobrook and Nancy Curry as groom and bride, dated 26 Dec. 1849, witnessed by J(no) H. Wood (Nancy's brother-in-law.) A marker at the Kuhukee Baptist Church Cemetery, south of Scotland Neck, towards Hobgood, reads: Nancy Allsbrook 24 May 1824 3 Apr 1893 Hartwell Allsbrook (Alsobrook) moved to Weldon later, after his wife died, and spent the rest of his life there. I would appreciate hearing from anyone descending from this marriage or researching the Allsbrook/Alsobrook family. Thanks for any assistance. Mike Gentry mrgentry@bellsouth.net

I can only go to my 3rd gg gfather, Levi Carlisle, b. 1785/90, he married Penny Strickland on 19 Feb. 1822 Halifax Co., NC. She was the daughter of Marmaduke and Mary Mainer Strickland. My great grandfather David Bennett Carlisle, b. Dec. 1850, was born at Scotland Neck, NC, the son of Sparkman and Mary Madry Carlisle. Have you heard of this branch of the Carlisle's?????? Thank you, Lynn Hawkins
