I have been scanning the internet newspaper entries that someone has kindly typed up for the Guilford newspapers in the 1830's. I find no reference at all to a Pace family, yet my ABNER PACE (b.abt 1821-22) was an orphan (apprenticed) at age 16 in 1837 in Guilford. I have also read court records and find no reference to his parents. Did the newspapers of that day commonly print obits of just ordinary farmers, or were they just noting the passing of more prominent citizens?
