Hi Louise, I have never heard of a Nottingham SOCIETY before. What I have seen is that the Nottingham Colony was from Nottingham Presbyterian Church, in Rising Sun, Lancaster Co., PA. When the border between MD and PA was finally established in 1767, this became part of Cecil Co., MD. They moved to (now) Guilford County where they obtained Granville Grants. There were 33 plots of 640 acres each, but only 26 are supposedly accounted for by mentioning which number of the 33 it was in the Granville Grants. My interest is the McCUISTON family that was part of this group. I also have interest in wondering if my SHORT family were also part of this group, and one of the unaccounted for members. Moses SHORT had 640 acres surveyed in the same area (North Buffalo Creek) at the same time (1753), land adjacent to Thomas DONNELL (who was a member of the colony). One of the witnesses was James McCUISTON (another member). Moses SHORT apparently sold this to George HAMILTON, who is the person who obtained the grant in 1756. Moses SHORT was also a chain carrier for two tracts of John NIX/NICKS (another member) that were surveyed in 1751 and 1756. Moses SHORT also married a daughter of John NICKS. I have never specifically looked to see if records exist for this church. Then again, I have never seen anything published about the members of the Colony being at this Church, other than statements of that is where they were from. Rick Saunders Salt Lake City, UT
